Hello! My name is Erica. I recently graduated from the University of Utah in May of 2016 and am very excited to bring my script, The Mother Wound, to life!
The Mother Wound is a dark 30 minute drama. It focuses on the struggling relationship between a mother and her two daughters. This is an important story because I feel that so many can relate and find healing in their own relationships as they take in this film. It is great to open discussions about the affects that a patriarchal society can have on women. This short film focuses in on a particular issue; mother-daughter relationships.
I created The Mother Wound because we live in a patriarchal society that constantly pits women against each other in the media and pushes the idea that a woman's worth equates to her beauty. This can cause vicious competition between women and it is devastating for mother-daughter relationships. I really wanted to show the damage that mothers can have on their daughters and how it can be an endless cycle when unrecognized.
I have been fortunate in bringing together a fantastic cast and crew who have done an amazing job! The film is currently in the last stages of post-production and is due to be finished by the end of September 2016. My goal is to raise enough money to recoup $5000 in production costs and $5000 more to pay back our awesome cast and crew who volunteered so much of their time for this passion project.
