Over the years, we've driven the van
for Pearl Jam tours across Canada and the US and have continued that
spirit in Europe and Australia as well. We've filmed and documented our
adventures and shared our experiences through videos online. But it's
been a while since we did one of these.
With the upcoming Pearl
Jam Lightning Bolt tour this fall, however, there are stops in both
Vancouver and Seattle and we figured that it would be great to bring the
Touring Van back on the road again.
And as it turns out, Seattle
will be Jason's 100th Pearl Jam show. So we plan to bring our cameras
with us one more time to film the journey between these 2 shows and
interview some fans to create a new and improved Touring Van video for
the web.
At the same time, we wish to take advantage of this opportunity to also help support fellow creative Pearl Jam fans as well as raise money for the Wishlist Foundation events in Vancouver and Seattle. These events are truly what the Pearl Jam community is all about.
THE VIDEO
The basic ideas behind the video will
be similar to those we've done in the past, featuring some fans and
documenting the adventure between the two Pearl Jam shows in the Pacific
North West. The purpose of our film will be to share with the world the
experience of Pearl Jam.
We are a little older and a little wiser
now, plus we have upgraded our filming equipment by quite a bit. So the
production level will be top notch.
Here's part one of a mockumentary video we did about 5 years ago on the Touring Van:
And here's a video we did for Mike McCready and Flight to Mars earlier this year:
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We have all the tools, equipment and personnel to do this. The only thing that we're missing is the main attraction: The Van.
What
ever happened to the Touring Van, you ask? Well, it's been sitting on
our driveway in Vancouver for the past few years and it needs a few
repairs before we can drive it. So this is
where we would need your help with the costs.
We would also love it if you can help spread the word of our campaign on your social media networks using the tag #TouringVan2013
THE COSTS
To be perfectly honest, it's not that we can't
afford the costs, we just can't justify spending this amount to drive
the van for only a few days. But if there is enough support from you
guys, we will make it happen.
We've set our goal to be $1000 to
cover the van repairs and basic expenses for this campaign. Our estimate to
get the van on the road is roughly $500 and we will need about the same
amount to pay for producing and shipping the initial set of rewards out to our
supporters.
BUT DON'T STOP THERE! If we get more funding than required, we will put 100%
of the excess money into the Wishlist Preparty Events in both Vancouver
and Seattle during the Pearl Jam shows in those cities. So please continue to pledge even after
we reach our goal, as no money will be pocketed or gone to waste. It
will all go to supporting the Pearl Jam fan community.
WISHLIST FOUNDATION
The Wishlist Foundation is a Pearl Jam fan nonprofit, grassroots
501(c)(3) fan organization dedicated to supporting Pearl Jam’s
charitable and philanthropic efforts. It is 100% fan run, independent from the band, its management and fan club.
During
the Vancouver and Seattle Pearl Jam shows, there will be a number of events
hosted by the Wishlist Foundation that will bring the community
together. We will put ALL PROFITS raised from this campaign to these
events.
In Vancouver, we will support the Wishlist Preparty Fundraiser benefiting Sea Shepherd and C.H.I.L.D. Foundation. In Seattle, we plan to support The Faithfull, a Pearl Jam influenced play that needs funding to help put on their show. You can also check out their own crowd funding campaign here on indiegogo at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-faithfull/x/4734621.
