TWIZA is a berber word referring to a life style based on sharing and collective participation. We have chosen this name for our new space because we aim to get as many people as possible to take part in this project so that TWIZA will become a lively place to meet and share ideas.

We want to open this space to the people of the neighbourhood and to anyone else who is interested in participating or organising different workshops and events. 

Who we are

We are a group of young people based in Tunis, coming from different backgrounds: theatre, juggling, photography, video, screen-printing, music, arabic calligraphy. We are enthusiastic about the chance of having a space where we can share our skills with others. We believe that art and culture can be great tools to create a better world and we decided to be totally self managed and self funded as we believe that positive energy and collaboration can be more important than money.

Working in the old Medina of Tunis is a very exiting challenge. The area is quite poor, but at the same time very beautiful. Community ties are very strong: people in the neighbourhood know each other well and spend a lot of time out in the streets. Since we rented this space, everybody has been very curious and welcoming. Since starting to organise small events open to the people of the neighbourhood, everybody has been really enthusiastic. 

What we have done until now

Until now we have funded the rent ourselves and bought all the material needed to make the place ready. We have whitewashed the walls so that we can have art and photography exhibitions.

We also painted the toilet, the kitchen and the other two rooms where we will start the language lessons and different workshops, in bright colours. 

We are trying to recycle as much as we can: we have already found some furniture for the kitchen and we are using pallets to create some seats.

Despite not yet having all the all the necessary materials, we have already started organising some events to spread the word about us and our activities.

What we want to do in the future

• Screen-printing workshops: we need to buy all the material to build a screen-printing machine, some silk, some T-Shirts and some ink.
• Juggling workshops: we need to buy balloons and other materials to teach kids how to produce juggling balls, sticks and other objects to learn how to juggle with. We also need to buy some solid wood to build some stilts.
• Dark room: we already have a couple of enlargers and most of the main equipment required, so we will only need to buy the chemicals and some photographic paper.
• Language lessons: we are recycling pallets to create benches, but we need to buy fabric and stuffing to make cushions to cover them.
• Fundraiser dinners: we need to buy a gas stove, a fridge and a load of pots, pans and cutlery.
• Publicity: we need to let people know that we are here and organising workshops and events so we need to print some colourful posters to hang around in the neighbourhood and all over Tunis. To reach a wider international audience, we want to create a website that will be updated with what is going on at TWIZA
• If some money is left over, we will pay the rent and the bills for the next few months.                                                   That's why we need your help!

TWIZA è una parola berbera che si riferisce a uno stile di vita basato sulla condivisione e sulla partecipazione collettiva. Abbiamo scelto questo nome per il nostro nuovo spazio perché vogliamo che partecipino più persone possibile in modo da far diventare TWIZA un posto vivace per incontrarsi e condividere idee. 

Vogliamo che TWIZA sia uno spazio aperto alla gente del quartiere e a chiunque sia interessato a partecipare o ad organizzare diversi laboratori ed eventi. 

Chi siamo

Siamo un gruppo di giovani che vivono a Tunisi, provenienti da contesti diversi: il teatro, la giocoleria, la fotografia, la produzione di video, la serigrafia, la musica, la calligrafia araba. Stiamo mettendo su con entusiasmo uno spazio in cui condividere le nostre passioni e le nostre conoscenze con gli altri.

Crediamo che l'arte e la cultura siano strumenti molto efficaci per creare un mondo migliore e abbiamo deciso di essere totalmente autogestiti e autofinanziati perché pensiamo che l'energia positiva e la collaborazione sono più importanti dei soldi.

Lavorare nella Medina di Tunisi è una sfida entusiasmante dato che è un'area abbastanza povera anche se allo stesso tempo bellissima. Il senso di comunità è molto forte dato che tutti si conoscono e passano molto tempo per strada. Da quando abbiamo affittato il nuovo spazio, tutti sono stati molto curiosi e ci hanno fatto sentire benvenuti. E abbiamo notato molto entusiasmo da quando abbiamo iniziato ad organizzare piccoli eventi aperti alla gente del quartiere. 

Cosa abbiamo fatto fino ad ora

Fino ad ora abbiamo pagato l'affitto e abbiamo comprato il tutto materiale necessario a rendere il posto agibile. Abbiamo imbiancato le pareti in modo da poter organizzare mostre di arte e fotografia. 

Abbiamo anche dipinto con colori vivaci il bagno,la cucina e le altre due stanze in cui inizieremo presto le lezioni di lingua e i vari laboratori. 

Stiamo cercando di riciclare il più possibile: abbiamo già trovato qualche mobile per la cucina e stiamo usando dei bancali per creare delle panche su cui sedersi. 

Anche se ancora non abbiamo tutto il materiale necessario, abbiamo già iniziato ad organizzare eventi per spargere la voce e far sapere di noi alla gente.

Cosa vogliamo fare in futuro

• Laboratorio di serigrafia: abbiamo bisogno di comprare tutto il materiale necessario per costruire una macchina per la serigrafia, della seta, delle magliette e dell'inchiostro
• Laboratorio di giocoleria: abbiamo bisogno di comprare palloncini e altro materiale per insegnare ai bambini a costruirsi delle palline e altri strumenti per la giocoleria. Abbiamo anche bisogno di comprare del legno per costruire dei trampoli.
• Camera oscura per lo sviluppo fotografico: dato che abbiamo già un paio di ingranditori e la maggior parte dell'attrezzatura necessaria, avremo bisogno soltanto di comprare i prodotti chimici necessari e della carta fotografica.
• Lezioni di lingua: stiamo riciclando dei bancali per fare delle panche, ma abbiamo bisogno di comprare tessuti e imbottiture per fare dei cuscini da mettere sopra i bancali. 

• Cene sociali di autofinanziamento: abbiamo bisogno di comprare una cucina, un frigorifero, pentole, padelle e stoviglie. 
• Pubblicità: per fare sapere alla gente che stiamo organizzando vari laboratori ed eventi culturali abbiamo bisogno di stampare dei poster colorati da diffondere nel quartiere e in generale a Tunisi. Per raggiungere un pubblico più vasto anche a livello internazionale, vogliamo creare una pagina web che verrà aggiornata con tutto ciò che succede a TWIZA.
• Se restano dei soldi, pagheremo gli affitti e le bollette per i prossimi mesi.

تويزا: الأشغال مستمرة 

تويزا فضاء مفتوح في قلب مدينة تونس العتيقة وهو مخصص للأنشطة والورشة الثقافية

تويزا كلمة أمازيغية (بربرية) تعني نمط حياة يستند إلى المشاركة و التقسيم الجماعي. اخترنا عن قصد  هذا الإسم لفضائنا الجديد لكي يتسنى لأكبر عدد مكن من الناس المشاركة في هذا المشروع وهو ما سيجعل من تويزا مكانا مفعما بالحياة أين تتلاقى وتتبادل الأفكار 

نريد لهذا المكان أن يكون مفتوحا أمام أهالي المنطقة وأمام كل من يرغب في الحضور أو المساهمة بتنظيم ورشات أو مواعيد.

من نحن 

نحن مجموعة من الشباب نعيش في تونس ، ولكل منا إختصاص : مسرح ، ألعاب، فوتوغرافيا، فيديو، طباعة على القماش، موسيقى، خط عربي

نحن جد متحمسين لهذا الفضاء وما يمثله من إمكانيات لتبادل وتقاسم المواهب مع الأخرين 

نؤمن أن للثقافة والفنون شأن عظيم في تغيير العالم نحو الأفضل كما نعتقد أيضا 

أن الطاقات الإيجابية والتعاون أهم بكثير من المال لذلك قررنا أن نكون متنضمين وممولين ذاتيا

العمل في وسط مدينة تونس العتيقة تحدي مثير جدا فالمنطقة، على فقرها، تبقى غاية في الجمال. الروابط الإجتماعية بين أهالي المنطقة قوية جدا: الكل يعرفون بعضهم البعض والأزقة بالكاد تفرغ من الناس. الجميع هنا متشوقون ومتحمسون منذ جئنا إلى المنطقة وخصوصا بعد إنطلاق بعض الأنشطة المفتوحة للأهالي

ماذا انجزنا حتى هذه اللحضة

تمكنا حتى هذه اللحضة من خلال امكانياتنا الذاتية من دفع شهر كراء ومن توفيت كل المعدات اللازمة لتجهيز المكان. قمنا بدهن الجدران ليتسنى لنا تنظيم المعارض الفوتوغرافية والفنية

استعملنا ألوانا زاهية لدهن الحمام والمطبخ وغرفتين اخريين أين سننظم دروس اللغة والورشات الأخرى

نعتمد قدر الإمكان على الرسكلة؛ وجدنا بعض الأثاث للمطبخ و ألواح تحميل سنستعملها لصناعة بعض المقاعد

هذا وقد انطلقنا بالرغم من عدم توفر كل التجهيزات الضرورية  في تنظيم بعض المناسبات للتعريف بنا وبأنشطتنا

ما سننجز في المستقبل

ورشات طباعة على القماش: يجب أن نشتري كل المواد اللازمة لصناعة ألة الطباعة، القليل من الحرير، كمية من القمصان وبعضه الحبر

ورشات ألعاب بهلوانية :يجب أن نقتني كرات وأشياء أخرى لتعليم الأطفال كيفية صنع كرات الألعاب ، العصي و أشياء أخرى صالحة للألعاب. نحتاج أيضا لإقتناء خشب لصنع الركائز البهلوانية 

غرفة مظلمة (فوتوغرافيا):بحوزتنا الأن آلتين لتكبير الصورة ومعظم الأجهزة اللازمة لذلك نحتاج فقط أن نبتاع المواد الكيميائية و الورق الخاص بللتصوير

دروس لغات:نحن الآن بصدد رسكلة الحملات اللوحية لصنع مقاعد و أريكة، و لكننا نحتاج أيضا الحشوات المصنعة لصناعة وسادات ومساند نضعها فوق الخشب

 حفلات جمع التبرعاتنحتاج فرن طبخ، ثلاجة والكثير من  القدور والمقالي والسكاكين 

الدعاية: من المهم أن نعلم الناس بوجودنا وبمختلف الأنشطة والورشات التي ننظمها ولذلك يتعين علينا أن نطبع بعض اللافتات الملونة لتعليقها في الحي وفي ارجاء المدينة عموما

ولنتمكن من التواصل مع الناس في ارجاء العالم فكرنا في إطلاق موقع انترنت يتضمن كل ما يحدث في تويزا

سنخصص المال المتبقي لدفع معاليم الكراء وفواتير الأشهر القادمة لذلك نحتاج دعمكم
