ABOUT
Wild Is The North focuses on the story of a messenger sent from England to meet King Malcolm II of Scotland and it will depict a time of barbarians and how wild Scotland was in particular with its culture and how dangerous living in those times would be with an ever- changing Britain.
STORY
The story is set in Britain 30 years before The Battle Of Hastings at a time when the Vikings were fighting all over, but a storm is brewing when there is word of a mass invasion from France and King Cnut (Kanute) sends his cousin to Scotland to find the King of Scotland and telling him that his King wants to meet on a diplomatic mission and telling him that the island is going to change forever.
WHO WE ARE
Hayley McInline - Director of Wild Is The North
Hayley is from a special effects background and so has always been extremely passionate about bringing practical effects to our screens, working mainly in the horror genre. She creates horrifying characters and brutal wounds that make even the cast and crew wince during filming. Hayley ventured into Directing and went on to direct her first feature film Bridal Fever which she directed with aplomb and also had Wild In The North writer and actor Bobby Robertson in her cast.
Bobby Robertson - King Malcolm II
Bobby has been acting for over 20 years appearing mainly in various theater productions playing characters such as Albert Einstein, William Burke of Burke and Hare and Death from the Diskworld Series. But film work came along and has appeared in various short and feature films such as Bridal Fever, FLUX and Bloods A Rover. He wrote Wild Is The North and is relishing playing the part of an ancient Scottish King in an epic story.
Kamil Lemieszewski - Jaromir
Kamil is a man of many talents! He is an actor, a stuntman , a model. He can boast lots of things but one thing you could say about him is that he can act and has been in lots of movies. He will be seen in upcoming movie Jurassic World: The Lost Kingdom and 7 Days In Entebbe. His previous work were appearances in Rogue One and King Arthur.
Briony Monroe - Isla
Briony will be playing young pict girl Isla and has been in quite a few films including the compelling In The Dark Of Day,The Black Gloves, Eggshells and Matriarch. Briony such a fantastic young actress and a great addition to the WITN cast.
Stuart Gilmartin - Director of Photography
Stuart is an indie film maker based in Scotland who is bringing his knowledge and resources to take this film to the next level. Apart from DOP Stuart has also directed films such as his films 'Safe Haven' and horrifying short 'Smile'.
Barry Gunning- Cinematographer
Barry is a Very experienced and reliable cameraman in his field who is passionate about what he does and has a great eye for detail. He has worked on many projects and highly regarded in the Scottish Film Making Community. A great guy to have on board.
Lauren Downie - Producer
Lauren is an award winning Director in her own right and bringing her on board for this film was a no brainer. A woman who likes to keep everyone and everything in check and a great person to be around with whether it is theater or film.
David McKeitch - Sound Recorder
Having worked with Peachy before you know how meticulate he is with the sound and can hear a pin drop from yards away he is that good. Sound is important on film and Dave is a great guy to have.
Samantha Jack - Make Up
Sam has worked on shoots all over the world and has worked on shows such as 'Outlander'. She is a Master at what she does and her make up prosphetics can look horrifically real. A real gem of a girl too.
WHY WE NEED HELP
Film making at any level can be a stressful but rewarding thing to be involved in but whether its a feature or a short it wont be cheap to make. As a hard working bunch of people that we are with the talent and perseverance we can bring this original historical story to life and with the help of our audience we can make this film very special indeed. This film is new new ground for the people making this as we all take pride in our film making and want to give our audience a great film but be part of this great journey.
Risks & Challenges
With more funds from our Indiegogo we can do more to make this wee film into a visual spectacular as we aim to take it to festivals all over the world especially with special wee surprises which will get you in awe when you watch the film. Let me assure you that this isn't going to be any short film but a totally fantastic one. Pre- production is at an advanced stage just now but we do aim to film in early March. I will be updating you on the progress of how we are doing. Exciting is not the word!.
