Short Summary
My name is Avery Davis and I am a student filmmaker attending Woodbury University. I am entering my junior year and developing an ambitious, world building, science-fiction short film for my thesis.
WOLFPACK: Fighting against the galaxy’s greatest superpower, a valorous fighter Vel and her small team must take back her mother’s technology that leads to interdimensional travel.
The project is set to film in November.
This campaign is to help raise money for production and compensation for the brilliant minds behind the project. We want WOLFPACK to be grand and set the bar high for student films. It would have been very easy to settle for mediocre and write/ develop a project that didn't challenge us and our skills. My crew and I didn't want that approach. We've seen enough mediocrity in the industry recently and we want to show that the vision for ambitious filmmaking is still very much alive!
WITH YOUR HELP, we can share this ambition and passion across Hollywood. Together we can create a project that shows creativity and love for Sci-Fi and filmmaking.
What We Need & What You Get
To cover the base necessities for production, we are striving to raise $10,000 USD. Location scouts. Set, camera and equipment rentals. Craft services and catering. Art, props and wardrobe. Sound, music, editing and visual/ special effects.
During production we will share the process with contributors. BTS clips of our production staff at work cooking up their creative masterpieces. A little insight on the progress you put your money towards. Depending on your donation, you will also receive producing credits on the film and IMDB. A special invite to the premiere of WOLFPACK and festivals. Special thanks in credits. And if you are also as ambitious as we are about Sci-Fi, we can also include your art and designs.
Whether or not we reach our goal, the funds will go towards production. Most importantly, our budget will go to feeding our cast and crew. Keeping our team fueled for production is more important to us than anything and that comes first.
The Impact
Inspirations from sci-fi IP's like Halo, Titanfall, Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy, we want to create a universe of diverse story and opportunity. We feel like the awakening of original science fiction is bringing excitement to those who love the genre, and we want to keep that ball rolling. This project will hopefully inspire those in the future that with a strong passion, team, and supportive backers, your dream is possible.
This is the first step of its kind to creating an ambitious film like 'WOLFPACK'. The minds of the team have professional industry experience combined with new but ambitious dreams to put skills to the test.
At the heart of it. I am just a nerd that absolutely lives for science fiction and entertaining films, and my team and I want to combine the two.
Risks & Challenges
Because this is the first kind of project I have created, there is a lot on the table. But I am confident in the skills I have developed in school and on the field in Hollywood to put together a strong vision. Our financial goal is a risk in itself, and I have planned for contingencies in case we don't reach our goal.
With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike in effect, we understand that raising money at this time may be even more difficult than before. But the finance of the project is not the only challenge that rises from the strikes. Hiring a SAG cast is now close to impossible. We want to fill our characters with excellent performers, but we are willing to give everyone the opportunity to showcase their skills as an actor, Union or not.
Locations can prove to be difficult challenges as well, but our location scouting thus far has proven successful. Our only exterior location is set on a beach front. AT NIGHT. It will be hard to negotiate for it, but we are willing to work hard to achieve that vision too.
