AlsalamAleikom/Hi, thanks to all of you who have visited this page. I'm Adel Hashem, a Yemeni humanitarian aid worker living in the capital of Yemen, Sanaa. I’m the executive director of Human Needs Development(HND).

Here is our HND’s yearly fundraising appeal for the holy month of Ramadan as we welcome in this blessed month once again this year of 2019. As we welcome this holy month again, we reflect on the sad fact that, from the youngest child to the elderly, our families in Yemen have faced endless hunger, displacement, malnutrition, indignity and despair every day for nearly 4 years of war.

Surely, you even haven't thought about buying medicine for your little girl and go without food tomorrow OR begging for people’s leftovers if you didn’t know when you’d eat again OR letting your little boy miss school so he could find food for his family????

Of course this is not a choice, this is a tragedy!! BUT unfortunately it’s also a brutal reality for our families in our Home, Yemen, right now.

“24 million” Yemeni people are urgently in need of humanitarian aid!!

With the ongoing war on Yemen – which is already one of the poorest countries in the region – tens of thousands of lives have been lost and over “20” million people don’t know where their next meal will come from. A country being starved by war is sadly now on the brink of famine.

With families facing ongoing war, disease and economic decline, an estimated “24” million people are now in need of humanitarian aid to survive – a figure so high that it is in fact the highest across the globe.

Yemen now officially hosts the world’s largest human-induced food security crisis.

Our Yemen’s families and communities have been torn apart and left without even the most basic of living essentials:

• “19” million people need basic healthcare;
• Almost “18” million people are in need of water and sanitation facilities;
• Over “3” million people have been left displaced by airstrikes or clashes;
• On the ground in Yemen, the situation is dire and things are getting worse each and every day. For our men, women and children across the country, finding their next meal is a growing challenge.

Since our establishment in 2016, we at Human Needs Development (HND) successfully have launched over “110” projects in most Yemeni urban and rural areas. Right now, we helped over “40,000” people in Yemen with most basic needs such as food, clean water, education and medicine.

During last holy month of Ramadan of 2018, we were able distribute about “650” food packages to “650” hungry families in various areas across Yemen. However, with your support we can help these communities in their hour of need during Ramadan 2019 as well.

Anyway, all collected amounts here will be used to purchase and deliver Ramadan food packages to most vulnerable families in Yemen. Families with big numbers of members, headed with females, orphans and those who are internally displaced will be prioritized.

Every Ramadan food package costs only ($30) and contains the following:

• (20 KG) of flour;
• (5 KG) of rice;
• (5 KG) of sugar;
• (2 KG) of dates;
• (2 liters) of cooking oil.

All pictures and videos for the food packages distribution process will be posted here so we let know where we use the kind support of our donors like you.

However, we need your support to reach as many people as possible and widen our response during coming holy month of Ramadan 2019.
