Our Story
American Dog Owners for Proper Training (A.D.O.P.T.) is a 501c3 organization founded to improve the adoption probability of dogs and
minimize the surrendering and euthanasia of dogs by their owners due to
behavioral and obedience issues. We are a fledgling organization and have just accepted the very first dog into our training program!
Ziggy is a 2 1/2 year old Staffordshire terrier mix that was rescued from a backyard breeder by a local rescue. He has gone through a lot in his short life, including a bout with cancer that he won but has left him missing half of one ear. He is a wonderfully friendly dog but has been overlooked by potential adopters due to his breed and his complete lack of manners/behavioral skills. He has been in foster care for an extended period of time and is in need of a forever home not only so he will have the life he deserves but so his foster family can continue to help other dogs like him. His personality is sure to find him a home quickly once he has a little help learning the basics of proper behavior and obedience.
The Impact
All the money raised in this campaign will go directly to Ziggy's training program to give him the help he needs to find a new home. He has been approved for our training program, and will be available for adoption once he has shown enough improvement to fit in nicely with a new family. The funds will also allow Ziggy's new owners to attend classes to learn about Ziggy's training and how to continue to follow through with everything he will learn. The goal is to find ZIggy a lifelong home and provide the support his new owners need to make sure they have a wonderful companion and a lifetime of joy with their new friend.
What We Need & What You Get
Because we are a nonprofit organization, our efforts are only possible
through donations such as these. Any additional funds raised will be
set aside to help train and place other dogs in the future, but without
your support Ziggy and other dogs like him will not get the little extra
help they need to find a good home. The local shelters and rescues we work with are extremely short on resources and do not have the ability to address the behavioral and obedience issues these dogs have that keep them from being adopted time and time again. Without your support, many dogs that would otherwise be great companions risk euthanasia.
Other Ways You Can Help
Please spread the word locally and nationwide about our organization! We are just beginning, but have great hopes that our efforts will make a huge and lasting impact all across the nation through a growing network of trainers, shelters, and volunteers. Even if you just donate $1 and spread the word, the impact could be ENORMOUS!
