This is the very first indiegogo for pUNK Films.

We have been waiting for just the right project, and this is it.

WE'RE DREAMIN' BIG!

HE HATED PIGEONS is the new feature film by DIY Queen INGRID VENINGER. Chilean actor PEDRO FONTAINE stars in a fictional story that travels from the Atacama Desert to the ice fields of Patagonia.

It's about a young man pushed to the borders of sexuality and sanity, and to the edge of the earth, where he must step into his manhood before the extremes of an immense and varied landscape.

Between January and September 2015, we will write, shoot, edit, sound design, mix, master, and be ready to submit a finished film to festivals worldwide. But, we can't do it without you.

HE HATED PIGEONS is a journey which reaches the 'edge of the earth', as well as the far borders of the mind and imagination. It is an inner road trip, where the direction will be determined by the map of the heart and spirit.

In keeping with the evolutionary and exploratory process used in shooting this film, the music score will be recorded live, using a similar process to Jim Jarmusch's DEAD MAN, where Neil Young recorded the soundtrack by improvising to the final picture in a recording studio.

Canadian composers/musicians OHAD BENCHETRIT and JUSTIN SMALL (DO MAKE SAY THINK) are ready for the challenge.

Then, we want to take it a step further: LIVE SCORE, IN PUBLIC.

Ultimately, two mixes will be created - one with the recorded score and one without. For the Toronto premiere, Ohad and Justin will perform the score - live to picture - in front of the audience.

Then, we go even further: DIFFERENT ARTISTS, DIFFERENT CITIES.

When HE HATED PIGEONS is presented on the big screen outside of Toronto, we want to invite local musicians in each city to improvise their own version of the score - live - in front of the audience. Anything could happen! On the big screen, this film will never be experienced the same way twice.

For VOD/DVD, all viewers will be able to select the 'score' they want to accompany the film - Toronto, New York, Santiago, Zurich, Japan...

Much like your leap of faith in joining us right now, this film will require a leap of faith every step of the way, because we want to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

FILMMAKER - INGRID VENINGER

HE HATED PIGEONS is the 5th feature by Canada's 'DIY Queen of indie film' INGRID VENINGER. Born in Bratislava and raised in Canada, Ingrid formed pUNK Films in 2003 with a 'nothing is impossible' manifesto. Awarded the 2011 Jay Scott Prize, presented by the Toronto Film Critics Association, Ingrid Executive Produced five features with the cash award ($5000) and launched the 1KWave in Toronto. Since 2008, Ingrid has written/produced/directed 4 features (ONLY, MODRA, i am a good person/i am a bad person, THE ANIMAL PROJECT), all of which have premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and garnered awards and distribution worldwide. Currently, Ingrid is the Screenwriter-in-Residence at the University of Toronto and a member of the Film Studies Faculty at York University. She recently initiated the pUNK Films FEMMES LAB to foster feature films written and directed by Canadian women, sponsored by Academy Award winner Melissa Leo.

THE SPARK FOR THIS NEW MOVIE

FEMCine in Santiago featured two retrospectives: selected Rainer Werner Fassbinder works, and the complete works of Ingrid Veninger; the two events amounting to a marathon of anarchy exhibited in the underground venue 'Cinema Radicales', where Ingrid bonded with her Spanish translator, Pedro Fontaine, and they committed to work together on a feature film.

The film tells the story of Elias (Pedro Fontaine), who has to find a way to keep living without Sebastien (Cristobal Tapia Montt) the person he loves the most - a story very personal, real, intimate and layered, which plays with memory and time. Elias travels in a red pick-up truck through the vastness of Chile; red... the color of blood, fire, danger, strength, desire, passion, and love.

Throughout shooting, the people we meet along the way will be incorporated into the story, allowing real events to influence and affect the fictional narrative.

Today, the screenplay is complete (for $25 you can read it).

Together with filmmaker, Ingrid Veninger, the cast and crew filmed their way through Chile from Feb. 2nd until Feb. 28th.

NOW POST-PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN. March 2nd until August 15th.

WORLD PREMIERE: FALL 2015/SPRING 2016.
