Crowdfunding for A Swedish Elephant
14 MONTHS OF PRODUCTION FINALLY COMPLETED
Cowabunga! We have completed the production stage! We started shooting in November 2016 and we shot the final scene in February, 2018.
We're talking 14 months of productive work that has resulted in 140 hours of raw uncut material! So we're now excited to finally move on to the finishing stage: the post-production. We're currently right in the middle of the editing process. This includes adding audio, music, narrator/voice over and the graphic design. This process is followed by sound mix and coloring/grading. Every little detail is important to make sure that we'll fulfill all our ambitions with this documentary. As filmmakers we want this movie to be highly appreciated for its artistic craftsmanship and be regarded as a high-quality independent production.
The movie will be completed in may 2018.
CROWDFUNDING #PHASE2 - FOR MARKETING & PROMOTION
We will kickstart our marketing-campaign by arranging an exclusive world premiere event on outdoor cinema during "The Almedalen Week" in Visby, on the island of Gotland, 3-4 July, 2018.
We will set up an customized outdoor cinema event just outside Visbys famous ”Ring Wall”. Before the screening of the film we will arrange a panel discussion where several cast-members will participate to debate some of the issues that will be featured in the film. The panel discussion will take place on a stage in front of the big screen.
The whole event is free of charge for visitors - no entrance fee and drop-in. We hope to see thousands of visitors during these two days.
But to be able to arrange our world premiere event we will need your help to raise funds.
This is #Phase2 of our Crowdfunding and the funds we raise in this campaign will mainly be used to finance the world premiere event in Visby. We also need funding for continuous marketing and promotion following the world premiere event. If we hit our goal for this campaign; 36.000 Euros - 60% of the funds will be earmarked for the world premiere event and the remaining 40 % will be used for post production (including purchase of archive materiel and music rights) and for marketing/promotion.
A Swedish Elephant will be submitted to international film festivals all over the globe. Distribution via European TV-companies is also something we're currently working on. We will, first of all, focus on the Scandinavian/Nordic market; Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Then the rest of Europe and the US/North America.
WHAT IS "THE ALMEDALEN WEEK"?
During the first week of July, the charming city of Visby turns into a forum for political debates. This annual event brings together all political parties, political organizations, business-people, domestic and foreign media. All this along with tens of thousands of visitors makes "The Almedalen Week" Swedens most influential political event.
WHAT MAKES A SWEDISH ELEPHANT SO SPECIAL?
Our documentary will probably be considered by some people as bold and controversial.
And we do hope that our film will be considered a game changer or icebreaker; a documentary that will contribute to a healthier debate climate in Sweden.
Since A Swedish Elephant is a documentary that commemorates freedom of speech, we've put together a dynamic mix of cast members that is representative for the whole political spectrum; from left to right and everything in between. This unique line up includes several of Swedens most influential journalists, authors, academic researchers and experts in various fields. We've brought together people with different views and opinions to be able to depict an objective and complex outlook on the Swedish society.
