Our Story
Do you remember a time in your life where everything
happened so quickly, it seemed like a million things were going on at once?
We do.
APARTMENT #12 is a new short film centering on just one of
those times – college years, the time frozen between a life structured by institutional education and the uncomfortable transition into "the real world." The film is a large ensemble drama/comedy featuring-
Artie, the nerd who can’t seem to make friends with anyone
Zack and Rebecca, a couple on the verge of going “official”
Clayne, the quintessential arrogant hipster, and…
Catalina, the smart, sexy femme fatale
Through overlapping story lines and a heavily improvisational style, we seek to capture a place, time and some of the memories of college
years that were dear to us… and hopefully, to make the audience remember those
times as well.
The Impact
APARTMENT #12 will serve as Drexel University Film/Video
student Caroline Fraissinet’s senior thesis. She considers her college years to be some of the most
impacting on her life thus far, so this film is really a dedication to the past
four years in her life and how she felt, where she lived, and the countless people she met. Besides being a lighthearted comedy, APARTMENT #12 is meant
to capture a time, a place, and most of all, an age.
What We Need
As we are students, money is hard to come by, especially
when it comes to budgeting. So,
any donations are absolutely essential to getting this project made. There are many costs that will be
inevitable in the production of APARTMENT #12, including:
-
Art
Department! – We need to make the
film read convincingly as a fairly large party in a lived-in college
apartment. That means we need
furniture, costumes, props, party decor, and a whole lot of red Solo cups.
-
Equipment! – We’re shooting on a digital camera and using
some equipment provided by the school, but that doesn’t cover everything. We need to get hard drives,
walkie-talkies, and some outside equipment to make this project look and sound great.
-
Transportation!
– As some actors and crew are not
from the Philadelphia area, they’ll need to get here somehow, and when they do, they will certainly need a place to stay.
-
Food! – Since we are students with limited funds, we
cannot afford to pay cast and crew.
But how do we make it worth their while? Great food, of course! This is one of the most important things we need to
spend on, because we have many mouths to feed and long hours to work.
What You Get
If you help us, we'll return the favor! You'll notice perks for different donation levels. We have some pretty neat stuff you can claim, including signed materials, homemade baked goods and even your own credit in the film. If you claim a perk when you make a donation, we'll be sure to send it out to you as a token of our most sincere gratitude.
