Attending Hult Prize in NYC
Hello everyone! I am Shreesti Guragain from Nepal, Kathmandu.
This year, I organized Hult Prize in my university, which is a social entrepreneurship competition for young entrepreneurs with a chance to win $ 1 million. I was lucky enough to organize it in Nepal for the first time and with a participation of over 50 teams and 300 students.
It was not an easy task as I had to start from scratch, work mostly alone and had to complete the task within a short time frame of 3 months. It was all up to me from finding capable young entrepreneurs to compete, finding judges, promoting the event in social and national media as well as finding donors and sponsors for the event and to send the winning team to Dubai for the semi-finals.
Although it was a challenging task, I believe I have grown and learnt so much from that experience. While the experience itself gives me immense satisfaction, I have also been selected as the top 10 organizers among 300 other organizers in the world. This is a reward I truly appreciate and it encourages me to help more people in the future. I have also been invited to NY to receive the award and attend the global finals in UN headquarters. Here, I will get the opportunity to meet and network with many social entrepreneurs and learn from them.
I aspire to learn from this experience and promote and bring more entrepreneurship opportunities in Nepal. Unfortunately, I am not being funded to either go to NY or attend the program. For this purpose I have started a fundraiser as fundraisers can be one of the best ways not only to collect little amount from the people who feel for you but to reach out to the larger audience and share your story. I would truly appreciate it if you could donate a little amount for my dream- my dream for my self-development and that of other lives I wish to touch. Thank you for listening. :)
