The Engineer's House needs restoring - and then we can all use it!
The Cambridge Museum of Technology is the old Pumping Station for the City of Cambridge - the Engineer's House was built in 1898 to house the engineer who worked at the Pumping Station. It was taken back by the council in 1970 and now unfortunately, it's fallen into disrepair and been vandalised. The good news is that the Cambridge City Council, rather than sell it off to private investors, has decided to lease it to the Cambridge Museum of Technology, bringing the whole site back together. The catch is that we have to restore the House, and we need money and volunteers to do that.
When it's restored, it'll be part of the Museum, which is going through a major redevelopment. As part of the Museum, the House will be open to the public and will provide meeting space, an archive/library, a space for education and outreach to the people of Cambridge via exhibits and talks by local engineering companies and educational institutions. That's a lot better than luxury flats!
What We Need
The house needs about £120K worth of work and we are involved in different kinds of fundraising and are also getting volunteers to help us. On Indiegogo, we are looking for people to sponsor different repairs. Can you fund part of a

A public asset, instead of a private good
The Cambridge City Council has been bold in choosing to lease this, rather than sell it and we should grab the opportunity to save the House.
The Museum Trustees provide oversight and guidance for the project, which is a real chance for community involvement and activism.
