The winner of the contest is David Leøng, a photographer based in San Francisco. There were 263 contestants with over 1,000 photo submissions, and it was very difficult finding the right one. Backers will receive their merch within a couple days of the July 28th release (international orders might take a few days longer). STORY: What is this all about?

Canadian Softball is an emo band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Like the many other bands signed to the totally-not-fake label Chodezilla Records (Sunrise Skater Kids, Amidst The Grave's Demons, etc.), CaSo has established themselves as one of the satirecore scene's finest acts. My recent crowdfunded projects Beating A Dead Horse, Friendville and Space Zombies EP really got me hooked on comedy music, and I don't plan on stopping soon. To keep things short, here are some informative bullet points...

• We are raising $20,000 for this release.
• These are NOT donations, since every contribution gets a perk.
• If the goal is not met within 30 days, the project will be CANCELLED.
• You will not be charged and can keep your money if this occurs.
• If we surpass $30,000, I will take this band on a LIVE TOUR.
• The songs will be professionally produced by Johnny Franck.
• The pizza memelord himself Jarrod Alonge will be doing vocals.
• This album could be ready for release as early as April 2017.

This project can only be as good as the amount it raises. More money means better production value, better rewards, better music videos and potentially extra songs.

STRETCH GOALS: What if you raise over $20,000?

Unlike Sunrise Skater Kids, I am the vocalist of Canadian Softball. Because of this happy coincidence, I will literally take the band on a live house show tour if I can get enough money to fund such a thing. If you want to see music videos, merch upgrades or perhaps extra songs, get your friends in on the campaign and help us exceed our stretch goals!

• $20,000: Campaign success, album funded!
• $30,000: I will take Canadian Softball on a house show tour. Seriously.
• $35,000: The house show tour could become a legit venue tour.
• $50,000: Guess I'll have to record another album or something.
• $100,000: I will eat my own foot and put the video on YouTube.

BUDGET: Why do you need $20,000?

As a relatively low-profile YouTuber, I make a humble income. Doing something like this is more expensive than you would think, and $20,000 is actually a pretty low amount for how much money I'll be forced to dish out. Although I surpassed BOTH budgets for my last two crowdfunding campaigns, I still ran out and used some of my own money (merch fulfillment alone for Friendville was $14,000). Luckily, it all worked out financially and I'm not living on the streets.

Remember that your contributions are NOT donations. Every amount starting at $1 gets you perk, so you're essentially just pre-ordering an album or merch. Although production value is very important to me, keep in mind that not all of the $20,000 would be used for actual music production. Here are the things that I need to pay for in order to make this Canadian Softball release happen...

• Recording, mixing & mastering: $6,000
• Media (artwork, videos, etc.): $1,500
• Online distribution & publishing: $250
• Perk fulfilment: $5,000 to $10,000
• Travel costs: $200 to $400
• Indiegogo & PayPal fees: $1,000
• Estimated taxes: $2,000 to $4,000

NOTE: Ultimately, ALL money raised goes back into my music somehow.
