The story is set in New York City in the near future, and follows a young amateur astronomer named Ian, who unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy centered on a artificial intelligence corporation that has developed a highly addictive virtual reality technology in order to control humanity. People using this technology find themselves immersed in a highly-customizable and augmented version of their surroundings, which is far more beautiful, elaborate, and perfect than their own reality.
I have made several award-winning short films spanning different genres, as well as a documentary and numerous experimental works, and have also directed a live performance that took place in NYC. This project will be my first feature film, and will be produced by my company, Kostic Films.
This ambitious project presents a near-future world and involves a number of visually striking effects, and intensive sequences that must be created by talented visual effects artists. In addition, we will need funding for camera/lighting equipment rental, feeding our crew and actors, the use of studio space for certain scenes, costumes, and art materials. We have put years into the development of this film, and even though it could be made on a higher budget, after a great deal of logistical planning and networking we have managed to get it down to this more conservative estimate. We hope this will improve the chances of the film being properly made now - at the time when it is most relevant!
Additionally, our goal is to raise enough money that we could enrich the film with atmospheric modern music by The Soft Moon to create a truly immersive film experience.
Finally, I am excited to share the news that we have actors Madeleine Assas, (Godard’s For Ever Mozart) and Didier Flamand (100+films, including Wings of Desire, Code Unknown…) on board!
