Overview
I've been writing and performing music since 1993, and I've finally recorded some of these folk songs I've written. One of Kingston's best songwriters, Tom Savage, produced the record, and some of my favourite musical friends (Jon McLurg, Pete Jozsa, Al Duquette, Bonz Bowering) helped me sound good. It's a real fun record, with lots of bluegrassy nuggets and bluesy jams and sad songs and murder ballads and the like. So, coming in spring 2018: Chris Morris - I Know This All Too Well.

Hi, I'm a folk singer from Kingston, ON.

I started playing and writing music when I was about 14. I've played in rock bands, blues bands, and even a fairly bad punk band, but my acoustic guitar and performing as a solo artist has always been my staple. I play somewhere around 100 shows a year these days. After 25 years of performing and writing music, it's finally time to put out an album.

Sure, I recorded a couple of tapes in high school, but they are mostly lost and awful. So, for all intents and purposes, this is my first album.  And I'm crazy excited to get it done and into your ears.

I'm not a prolific songwriter, but I try to write 'em well. Most of these songs have been tested in front of hundreds of audiences, either solo or with one of my bands (Strung Out To Dry or The Goodnight Irenes). That said, I'm too close to the songs, so I asked one of Kingston's best and hardest working musicians, Tom Savage, to produce this record. I was immediately impressed with Tom's work as producer of Al Duquette's solo album last year, and I asked him right away if he'd like to be a part of it. Tom really has a fantastic ear for these songs, sometimes bringing them exactly where I wanted them, other times pushing them in exciting new directions.

About the album and this campaign

As you probably know, any musician can record their songs pretty much anywhere, what with computers and all. But it often doesn't sound very good. So, seeing as I've waited over 20 years to do this, I want you to think it's a great folk album. That's why I have a great producer, a great engineer, and some incredible backing musicians. About half the songs were recorded at the beautiful North of Princess Studio, the others at Kevin Bowers' studio nearby. I also have plans to do a music video, and some merch, both of which are firsts for me!

All told, it's going to cost about $3500. My goal with this campaign is to sell as many records in advance as possible. I've worked hard and put together a great team to make an album that I'm extremely proud of, and I'm excited for you to be a part of this musical journey with me.  PLUS, all of the perks over $10 for this campaign come with an exclusive outtake that will only be available to backers. You can also follow along here for videos from some of the recording sessions.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you aren't able to contribute now, please follow along anyway, share with your friends on social media, and help spread the word! I'll be posting regular updates with some footage from the studio, as well as details on the CD release concert, merch availability, and more. Thank you!
