My name is Gina Miller. I wrote
the screenplay and I am also producing the film.
Surrender
Dorothy is about a young woman trying to navigate the sometimes crazy world of
Hollywood., she's wants desperately to be respected as a writer, a storyteller,
but she is struggling to find her true voice ... the truth is ... Hollywood is not
her problem.
It's
Her secrets that are shoved into a dark musty closet in a small town in
Texas where a tragic event occurred in
her teenage years, and she has chosen not deal with her pain & grief.
I
wrote this story based on many events in
my life and many many others.
This
film explores the secrets we keep deep in our hearts and the damage it causes. But with the HOPE that if you surrender your grip on your inner pain, you can find happiness!
Now
although Surrender Dorothy is a drama, there are some very funny moments because quite frankly the root of most comedy is pain! So
no matter how painful life is -- we can't help but laugh at some of the
ridiculous situations we get ourselves into!
I
would say the main message of Surrender Dorothy is even though someone nearly destroys your
life you can still feel love for them, forgive them, move on and surrender the
pain. Because when you forgive with your whole heart you just may have
fulfilled your purpose in life.
And
don't let the title confuse you ...Surrender Dorothy is not about giving up, it's
about embracing what is and moving forward with pride --- being bold & unafraid of the judgment of
others. It's the greatest freedom you can have.
I know deep down there is a large group of
people who will relate to this story, this film. So many who have painful secrets they keep
locked away deep in their hearts, and
never speak of. That's
why I'm reaching out to the World -- to you to help me make this film!
