We are Gijs
and Joep, two brothers who have been making music together for more than twenty
years. It started with hard rock covers as young teenagers, and later we recorded our own
songs with our band Apes in the Orange Grove (“We Got Time”, 2011).
We spent the
past two years holed up in our Amsterdam rehearsal space, quietly writing and
editing an album until it was ready to record. We didn't want to do this in a
studio, so we ended up in an empty nursing home. Jurriaan Sielcken and Iwen Legro
came along to take care of production, and the album will be mixed by Noah
Georgeson (The Strokes, Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom).
Our record
is halfway done, and we've made it exactly the way we wanted. We're very happy
with the result so far, and here's a first listen of what it sounds like right now:
However, the album still has to be mixed, mastered and
pressed on vinyl. We spent all our time and energy on this project, and way
more money than we could afford. That's why we really need your help to
complete this record.
We've started two crowdfunding campaigns: one on a Dutch site for fans in the Netherlands, and a smaller campaign on Indiegogo for supporters abroad. We'll pay most of the costs ourselves, but your contribution will really make a difference. And if you support us, of course you'll get something in return!
Besides donating, you can also help us by spreading the word and sharing our video with your friends and vague acquaintances. Help us make it happen!
Thank you.
