Hello! I’m Ron Bonk, the producer, writer and director for “House Shark”. I’ve been working as a low budget filmmaker and distributor since 1992 and even established my own indie distribution company around then, SRS Cinema, which has released 100's of low-budget movies and developed a loyal and often fervent fan base.  I’ve produced over 3 dozen motion pictures and directed over 10 of those myself. 

Prior, we did a campaign here to help make the movie. Well this new campaign here is to sell the movie - It is done and ready to go and I'm eager for fans to see it!  Work has begun on the extras, authoring, more film fest showings and so forth, and with demand being so high (the trailer, covered by Movieweb.com, has garnered over a HALF MILLIONS VIEWS!!), I wanted to launch pre-sales with a bang by doing a another campaign here - a way to reach both current fans but also introduce us to new ones. These sales go towards not only recouping the costs of the production ($21k, 3/4 of which I financed out of my own pocket), but also helping to cover some of the release costs that lie ahead.  On top of all that, supporting this campaign helps me to keep making movies - this is my full time job.  And I'm ready to move forward on the next dark tale, one I'm even more excited about!

Synopsis: Just when you thought it was safe to go home! When Frank (Trey Harrison) finds his happy home under attack by a dangerous but largely unknown breed of shark, he's enlists the aid of the world's only "House Shark" Expert, Zachary (Michael Merchant), and a grizzled former real estate agent, Abraham (Wes Reid), to embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast and claim back his life. It's JAWS in a house!

I’ve always wanted to do an homage to “Jaws”, one of my top 10 all-time favorite movies, even having attempted to write a “Jaws” sequel in my much younger years.  But until now, I never quite hit on what my shark movie would be about.  Basically, "House Shark" is what it sounds like… “Jaws” in a house.

I'm really excited about the final movie. It was a difficult shoot, and more work than I even anticipated. And working with a 14ft shark prop in the tight quarters of my own home gave me just the (VERY) slightest of inkling to what Steven Spielberg must have gone through during the troubled production of his movie. But we did it, and in the end there's a funny, scary and small-scale epic movie for you all to see. I think fans of the original classic will love this movie, and hopefully make it an early summer horror movie viewing tradition, much like many people do nowadays with "Jaws".

"House Shark" premiered late in 2017 at the prestigious "Nightmares Film Festival" (currently #2 rated on Film Freeway) where it received several nominations and took home the trophy for "Best Horror Comedy"!  And I'll note, the movie was only about 90% finished at that point, as we rushed to make the festival knowing what an import event it was. It has since been invited to the "Weekend of Fear" and "Boston Sci-Fi" Film Festivals - we're 3 of 3!!  I'm truly grateful that the movie had such a great launch, and for the daily requests by shark-movie loving fans as to when it will be available.

"Now let's go bag us a House Shark!"

This isn't a campaign where you invest and wait years for the movie to get done - IF it even gets done. As I mentioned, "House Shark" is COMPLETE, and I'm ready and can't wait to show it off  And this campaign allows me to do something extra fun that is impossible to accomplish with a traditional release - it allows me to interact directly and create a more hands on experience with you!  I can create unique merchandise that would be impossible to bundle with a wide release, and do the cool sort of movie tie-ins you usually only see with a Hollywood sized production.

SRS has a sterling reputation for customer support and delivering as promised, and we'd done it thru hundreds of releases over many years, including nearly 50 prior limited edition Bluray releases from underground filmmakers.  In 2017, I celebrated 25 years working in underground film - that's 25 years where I first decided to self-distribute, then reached out and supported hundreds of indie filmmakers worldwide.  SRS has released some of the most well regard indie and underground movies ever made - "Truth or Dare", "Killing Spree", "The Deadly Spawn", "Scrapbook", "Shatter Dead", The Gore Trilogy, "The Period", the "Meat Market" series, many of the movies from Eric Stanze, John Russo" Fred Olen Ray and SO many more.  I've funded my movies almost entirely out of my own pocket, and have self-distributed every one via SRS despite offers otherwise.  I fully embrace the spirit of indie filmmaking and always am there to offer advise and help to any filmmaker, even if they don't distribute through SRS. And I couldn't have done all this without YOU, the fans and supporters of independent cinema!
