Our story
(The French pitch video is here : http://youtu.be/sXbqTNm6KEA and the Greek one here : http://youtu.be/3nr8iyjKMmg )
When Skiathos, a beautiful island in the Mediterranean sea, saw its playgrounds closed for security reasons, a group of moms and teachers decided to do something about it.
Our idea is simple. Every child needs a secure environment to play, create, discover, learn and, most of all, have fun ! And every parent needs a place to sit, have a coffee, have a chat with a friend, play a boardgame or reconnect with their child through play. We can make that happen !
We found a place, rented it, looked at thousands of playground equipment, toys and games and started working on our project.

As we moved forward we faced some unforeseen problems and subsequently ran out of budget. While a bank loan is practically impossible at the current market in Greece and as we form a multinational team, we decided that in reality the only way to reach our friends and supporters all over the world is through crowd funding. This way we can focus on our vision for the project rather than high yields for our investors. We certainly plan to be profitable, but not at the expense of what Joyce 'n' Fun stands for.
What will it look like ?
Opening the door of the wooden castle surrounding Joyce 'n' Fun, you have a feeling of being embraced by nature. Everywhere around you, boats, forests, animals.
In the outdoor area will be an inflatable castle and a slide that ends in a ball pool.
Inside, castles, swings, little houses and even a wooden boat await the children for endless fun. The indoor space is separated in corners (baby corner, construction corner, bookworm corner and a few more. You'll have to come and discover them yourself) depending on children's age and interests. Child carers will attend to the childrens' needs and will organize various workshops.
And the parents ? Parents can sit on comfortable sofas, on a large bench with cushions or on our small amphitheatre, knowing that every product we offer them and their children is fresh, healthy, vegetarian and most of them come from local organic producers.
What We Need & What You Get
Our 200 squ. meters indoor place and its 50sq.mt. yard has a rent of 1100€/month. Right now, there is a whole community of people helping us but the paint and the building material still cost a lot of money and, at some point, we'll need to pay our workers.
The funding will be flexible, as every euro counts and as the project is already started.
You'd be gifted Joyce 'n' Fun's hats and shirts, thank you drawings made by kids, free entrances to our playground and, last but not least, weekend stays to Skiathos !
Isn't it risky ?
You all know about the Greek economic crisis, it might seem silly and dangerous to open a small business now but... now is the time Greece needs it the most ! Every idea to make our country a better place to live has to be supported and fought for ! The next generation has the right to live in a better place, they have the right to play without suffering because of the general economy problems.
Parents know this, and know that money spent for their children is their greatest investment. We know that too, and that's why our prices will be as low as possible.
Electra, who started this dream, has been a French teacher on the island for a couple of years. The children know and love her, some of her old pupils have already children of their own and the whole community has embraced the project, asking us every day when we'll open.
Skiathos is a very touristic place, our playground will also be a place for families to calm down in the storm that holidays with children can become.
Everybody can help !
We know money is tight for everybody right now but you can all help ! If not by funding us or giving us a hand here, you can still spread the word !
Indiegogo gives us some great tools to share our campaign, please feel free to use them again and again !
Simos from www.skiathosphotgraphy.gr and Victoria from http://www.victoriasandels.com already helped a lot with the video shootings and the pictures of Skiathos !
Thank you, Yolonda, from http://www.amayapapaya.com/ for the pictures, the idea and the inspiration ! You are a great role model !
Thank you !
