Our
Story
"Muslims definitely have a responsibility to our
society, wherever we find ourselves."
- Imam Zaid Shakir
Lighthouse Mosque is located in Oakland, CA and is dedicated
to the basic teachings of Islam and programs that benefit the local community.
One of these programs, the Community Feeding Program, brings
Muslims together every Saturday morning to distribute groceries and provide hot, Halal meals to over 200
low-income and homeless people each week.

The
Impact
Your donation will:
- Feed 200 low-income and homeless families in Oakland each week
- Expand and beautify the
prayer space
- Invest in the
educational & social experience of muslims within our community
Your
generosity can reap infinite amounts of reward for you and provide sorely
needed help to the greater community.
Testimony from Community Feeding Recipient:
"I’ve been coming here for the past 3 1/2 years.
Ever since he [my son] was born, this is the way that I’m able to feed my
family... because money does run out... All the staff here are just heaven
sent, they really are. We have prayer with them even though we have two
different faiths. God is God, it doesn’t matter. It is so beautiful; they pray,
they bring in community speakers, they’re activists and they’re here to help us."
A message from Imam Abdul Latif:
"Muslims cannot adequately bear the test of time in the
United States without being organized. The Lighthouse Mosque has taken on the specific task
of education and community activism. Supporting such a cause is a practical
undertaking of doing one's part in the grand scheme of this massive event
termed 'American Islam.'"
What
We Need & What You Get
Lighthouse Mosque - $10,000
The Lighthouse Mosque needs your help recovering the
expenses from the recent renovation. In
order to create more room for prayer and make Jummah more comfortable, we’ve
had to:
- Remove and
reconstruct walls
- Re-level a portion of
the floor
- Install a new shoe
storage system
Your donation will help create a more comfortable prayer
space for the people in this community and build a more solid financial
foundation for the mosque inshAllah.
Community Feeding & Hot Food Program - $8,000
The Hot Food Program needs between $150 - $200 each week to
provide a variety of Halal meals to 200 low-income and homeless people: chicken & vegetables, veggie
chili dogs, spaghetti and salad, or nachos with vegetables and ground
beef.
100% of your donation pays for food and food containers.
There is no additional overhead cost.
$8,000 will keep the Community Feeding Program alive
for an entire year inshAllah.
"A man asked the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him: What
in Islam is best? He answered: "To feed people and to greet everyone
whether you know them or not."
- Bukhari and Muslim
