The Knife
The MK 0 (pronounced Mark Zero) is the evolution of a custom design that came about 1991, which predates my first production knife. In fact, the MK 0 is patterned after a knife I made while serving in the US Navy, during Operation Desert Storm. It has a D2 blade and Dymondwood handle scales and was greatly inspired by WWII commando knives, like the V-42 Stiletto. Please see the below image.

This is the knife I started with. Development began in late 2024, when I started with old photos and notes. From there, I made CAD drawings. Those drawing were handed off to an engineer, who made several minor, but crucial, refinements. At that point, four prototypes were created and a manufacturer was carefully chosen. The selection of a manufacturer was not easy, I wanted to guarantee an outstanding product, so I chose a factory that uses only high-tech processes, like CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling. I consider myself extremely fortunate to work with one of the best manufacturers out there. They were first on my list and I was flattered that they agreed to work with me.

After months of testing and adjustments, these are the final drawings (all dimensions in millimeters). Much like the original, this knife has an elongated handle with multiple gripping positions and tactile points.

The MK 0 has been refined using computer modeling, and CNC milling. The handle cutouts were a suggestion from my engineer, which improved the balance of the final knife.

This is the MK 0 prototype. The knife you will receive will be exactly like this one (with the exception of my "MK" makers mark being etched on one side).
The main ideas surrounding my knives are affordability and usability. My knives are purpose-built, for that reason the price must reflect that purpose. No one is going to use a ridiculously expensive piece of equipment in a situation where it will likely be damaged.

When creating a knife, I strive to follow the Japanese concept of Kanso (or simplicity) which is achieved by exclusion of the non-essential. On this note, the MK 0 is essentially made from three pieces (excluding hardware) the blade and two handle scales. Using full tang construction creates a stronger knife, that remains usable even if the handle material is damaged or destroyed.
Along with affordability and usability, the MK 0 has a focus on quality and durability. That's why this knife incorporates VG-10 blade steel, G-10 handle scales and 416 stainless steel hardware. VG-10 steel is an exceptional, premium steel. In fact, the G in VG-10 stands for gold. It is the gold standard of knife steel. It has a higher chromium and carbon content than most steels, making it more corrosion resistant and longer wearing. With high hardness and a fine-grained structure, VG-10 steel will hold a sharp edge, through more cuts, than most steels. G-10 is a high strength, moisture, temperature and chemical resistant material, that feels good in the hand, so it's a natural choice for knives that will get a lot of use under the harshest conditions.

This is the MK 0 prototype. A closeup of the oversized pommel, very similar to the original. Note the fine CNC bevels along the thong hole and the edge of the fastener.
I am very proud to include a pivoting sheath attachment point. Please see the above video (this is the actual prototype knife and sheath). This piece of hardware increases carry options and is something rarely included with most knives.
