Short Summary
Log line: A detective investigates the dissaperance of his missing niece, but soon realizes those closest to him maybe hiding the truth.
Hey, wassup everybody my name is Ahday G. I'm a student filmmaker at Towson University. This is my senior thesis film and WE NEED YOUR HELP! Necessary Evil is a riveting experience full of deceit. You the audience will act as the detectives, as you navigate through the web of lies to figure out what happened to Misha Johnson. This story is important for me to tell because I'm always going to push for original pieces. We need more unique roles featuring those of diverse backgrounds. With your help we can achieve true cinematic art, and create a piece for those of all different walks of life to enjoy.
What We Need & What You Get
We have a strong goal of $3,300.00
-$1,000.00 Dollars of your kind donations will go to paying cast and crew. Bringing a film to life takes many people and many hours. I want to make sure everyone is compensated for his or her work. -$600.00 will go to production cost including set decoration, wardrobe, props, and vehicles. This is a period piece, and acquiring items that give the film the most authentic feel and look is crucial. -$500.00 will go to securing locations. We have multiple locations in this film including an old home we need for 4-5 days. -$500.00 will go to local rentals; covid has affected the quantity of equipment Towson is allowed to rent us. This will help make sure we have everything we need to shoot. -$500.00 will go to catering and craft services. Once again due to Covid safety guidelines the cost of feeding an entire cast and crew has inflated. This will make sure everyone has individually wrapped meals, creating a safer environment. -$200.00 will go to film festival submission cost. It is our goal to push this film as far as it can go, this will help us do so.
Your contributions won't go without notice as we have special perks including an early link to the film, a Necessary Evil exclusive T-shirt, and even an executive producer credit that features a day on set.
Meet The Filmmakers
Director - Ahday G
My name is Ahday G, and I'm a filmmaker. I think back to 2018 a lot because in the midst of my sophmore year, I decided to change majors and transfer schools to pursue filmmaking. At that moment I decided what I wanted to do with my life, and it was the best decision I ever made. Just a year later my film 'Shhh' premiered at the Baltimore Parkway Theatre. I've gone on to write and direct 3 short films of vastly different genres, and they've done pretty well. I'm grateful for what I've accomplished but I'm more focused on where I'm going. My next stop is Necessary Evil. I speak on representation in film a lot not only for the under-represented but for HOW people are represented. It's not crazy to think that if you only tell certain stories featuring a certain race of people, that's what the world will think of them. Trust me, we've seen that movie already. I promise with my platform I will never do that. I'm always going to push for the story not told or the off the wall idea you wouldn't expect. I love making movies and hope you all will join me on this journey. Thank you for your time, anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.
DP- Michael Bittner
Michael Bittner wears many hats on a set, but likes to direct his focus towards cinematography and production design. “Necessary Evil” will be his third time assuming the role as a Director of Photography. Being a life long film fanatic, Michael studied digital media production at community college, where he wrote and directed his very first short film. Wanting to stay in pursuit of this passion, he transferred to Towson University where he is currently enrolled as a senior in the Electronic Media and Film program. Working hard towards a career in film production, Michael plans to be as versatile as can be in order to properly be a “Jack-of-all-trades”.
Editor | Assistant Director - Devaughn Johnson
Hi my name is DeVaughn Johnson, editor and AD for “Necessary Evil” I am passionate about storytelling. I love to see different stories from different perspectives and different styles from all walks of life. My favorite way of storytelling is through film. I just love the different and unique genres of film, from the crazy explosive action ones to the tear-jerking dramas. It always seemed to fascinate me. One day I want to edit for one of the big production companies like Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures. But before I can reach that goal, I need to work my way up. In the past I've worked on multiple projects like short films, music videos, corporate videos and animations. In my free time, I like to box, watch films and get to know new people. The department I am most interested in is post-production, I love to edit films and help the directors bring their ideas to life.
Producer- Andrew Whitney
Hello, my name is Andrew Whitney “Andy”. I am a producer, videographer, photographer, and editor based out of Prince George County, Maryland. My passion for production started after taking a TV production class in high school and from there my drive to create grew. I started a production company with my brother and produced dozens of music videos and several short films. My need to create is what motivates me.
