SYNOPSIS

Remission follows Tom, his boisterous best friend Paden, his loving ex-girlfriend Jessica and her new boyfriend James as they spend a weekend together at an Airbnb; immediately after Tom receives an envelope disclosing information about long lost sister.

Short Summary

Hello there! My name is Cody Alexander Curtis. I am an actor and filmmaker from the beautiful state of Maine. I have spent the past two/almost three years in the film community helping produce, act in and direct a variety of stories, including my own feature film (You can find links to some of these projects below and even more at my website: www.codyalexandercurtis.com).

Now I am in pre-production for my latest short film: Remission. I am making this film with a tremendously talented group of actors and filmmakers from around New England and beyond. Some of these people include  Alex Cole (Maine),  Dylan Kraekel (Maine), Jessica Day (New York) and Zachary Hogue (Los Angeles).

This story came to me this past summer and as soon as I finished the script I knew I had to get it made as soon as possible.  Although it may not be my first film, for me personally it is the most important story I will have the chance to tell to date.

What We Need & What You Get

Every time I make a film I always try as much as possible to rely on my own finances and resources to make it happen; however with each project I obligate myself to I realize more and more that I need help and funding assistance from others (As much as it does pain me).

All of the money that we raise for the project will go towards not only feeding the cast and crew over the course of the shoot, but also it will allow me to make sure that the cast and crew receive payment for the hard work they put forth. Other things include location costs, lodging, travel expenses, marketing, post-production, film festivals, etc.

You can rest easy knowing that any and all contributions you make will  not only be in support of the arts, but more importantly it will show that you are in support of stories about friends and family.

I am going to do all that I can to make this film as cost effective as possible, while at the same time not losing any quality of the story that I want to tell. Every contributor will get a special thank you and their name in the credits of the film.

The Impact

Life can be beautiful and absolutely grand; but at the same time it can be soul crushing, devastating. Being human comes with damage, but it also gives you the chance to heal from that same damage. My only hope with this film is that those who watch it will be able to look at themselves and see how they can make their current/future relationships better.

After all everyone is a broken puzzle piece in some way or another, but when disjointed pieces come together they create something new and beautiful.

Risks & Challenges

The biggest challenges that we face are mostly to do with time. We are hoping to capture all the footage that we need over the course of a three day weekend (Fri-Sun). And the script we are filming is a total of 25 pages. Luckily we have a beautiful location chosen for the majority of shooting.

Another big challenge I faced is the fact that this is  the first film I have ever decided to  hold auditions for. Being the director of actors that have as broad and amazing experiences as Jessica and Zachary is very scary to me. But with the help of my crew and the support that all of you have shown since I started directing makes me feel like this journey and this story can only get better and better!

Other Ways You Can Help

Spreading the word and sharing the campaign is more significant and would be more helpful than you know. I just want to take another moment to thank all of you for taking the time to read this campaign/post and for your support. It means the absolute world to me. I can’t wait to show you all the final product!
