A world in crisis
We write in a time of great uncertainty - with right-wing populism, isolationism and xenophobia gaining ground around the world.
Trump is the most striking example of this, but he is far from alone. His soul-mates in the Netherlands, Greece, Germany and France all sing the same unsavoury song.
And for those reading this, the most immediately dangerous of this gang is the fake "workers' friend" Theresa May, who spins a tale of concern for those suffering the consequences of Tory policies while working flat out to intensify them.
Socialists cannot be bystanders to the slow death of neoliberalism.
This political upheaval across the world offers an unmissable opportunity for socialist ideas to secure a foothold in the popular consciousness.
Public trust in the mainstream, corporate-owned media is at an all time low. And the need for an independent socialist media is at an all time high.

Give socialism a voice

The Scottish Socialist Voice has been in print for 20 years. Since November 1996, it has provided a platform to the anti-war movement, the anti-cuts movement, the radical independence movement and more.
We've hosted Voice Forums in Edinburgh to facilitate important left-wing discussions, with high-profile contributors from different parties and none.
And our paper played a crucial role in the Scottish independence and EU membership referendums by providing a space for alternative political ideas to be put forward.
We want to make the Scottish Socialist Voice an even more powerful voice for people struggling against injustice, discrimination and exploitation.
We need our supporters to dig deep to help us make a long-term investment in our future reporting. This is more important now than ever. We need new equipment, new software and a stronger financial base. Your contributions will go towards:
- New computer equipment for editing and design
- Desktop publishing software
- Camera equipment to cover public events
- Stickers and postcards to promote the Voice
- Publishing costs for the Voice and books under a Voice imprint
We recently launched a new online subscriptions system that allows our readers to purchase the Voice in PDF and print editions.
We're expanding our online presence and want to carry on making the Voice relevant in the 21st Century. Fundraising is a crucial part of that.
