Summary of Our Project:
This is the story of one of the oldest Tai Chi clubs in America and brings to light old and new footage of a club that began as private in the lower east side of New York City and has thrived on passing on the teachings of Chinese traditional martial art systems for 40 years. Lively documented stories tells the world of the practitioner's passions, talents, struggles, dedications, and their peace of mind.
Director/Producer Statement:
This documentary film represents humanity, love, friendship and culture in the practice of martial arts and Tai Chi, which has been quite silenced, or not deeply looked at by our society. The film shares the true stories from the perspective of those who live with and are dedicated to martial arts and Tai Chi practice, some for more than four decades, in the lower east side of New York City. We are inspired by this special club, in which east and west culture has merged, exchanged perfectly, and we are proudly a part of the stories.
Viewers will be inspired and empowered by these life stories that share the benefits of the internal martial arts and how over time practitioners become stronger, overcome difficulties & isolation and are transformed amidst the bustling city of New York. The film's influential and historical value will be a unique gift to future generations.
This is a very special documentary that we are making with our heart and dreams. We’ll be soon, sooner with your help, be watching the film with millions of martial artists and Tai chi practitioners around the world, as well as all curious minded humans.
