I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

"This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honored even half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. Health brings a freedom very few realize until they no longer have it."

The Insurance Man is a drama, inspired by true stories, that explores the dilemma many of us face: The conflict of pursuing passion with the necessities of making a living.

The genesis of this film sprang from experiences many of us share - having to choose between following our passion and the reality of our lives. Inspired by real stories, we created the insurance man character, Carlo Miranda, to be relatable to all of us. He goes door-to-door to sell policies, but he is not good at it and, instead of making sales, his empathic nature makes him more of a friendly shoulder.

He visits five homes, creating five pertinent stories of today that touch on issues such as physical and emotional illness, isolated elders, single parents, adoption, the challenges of small businesses, etc. Each visit tells us something about our world while reflecting the insurance man’s own life journey and struggles. This encourages us to think that Carlo Miranda is in search of his own answers, which in turn helps us to examine the place of passion in the reality of our own lives.

Alex Lage (Writer, Director) Best Director Mont Blanc International Movie Awards, Best Director Cult Critic Movie Awards, Nominated to Jean-Luc Goddard Movie Award, Best Director of Film On Women Mont Blanc International Movie Awards.

Caroline Phipps  (Producer) Life & Business Coach, Writer, Radio Contributor: Most recent work is the multi-award-winning film Three Sides of a Circle.

We are filmmakers privileged to be living and working in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley region of upstate New York. As with our last film, Three Sides of a Circle, we are blessed to be receiving invaluable help, once again, from our community for The Insurance Man. This assistance is taking many forms: Multiple filming locations, cast and crew accommodation in B&Bs and small local hotels catering by local restaurants, cars from local dealers and supporters for specific scenes, motorcycle school, and motorcycle for a specific character, collaboration with local artists and community volunteers for every aspect of production.

This support, together with the dedication of our talented cast and crew, is bringing us one step closer to our goal of making The Insurance Man an inspiring and transformational high production value film on a low budget.

Miraculously we have everything in place except the modest amount of money needed to start filming. And this is where you can help and collaborate:

We need $24,000 and here is where the funds will go to:

  • Payment for Cast and Crew
  • Equipment (accepted by Netflix, Hulu, and Apple)
  • Insurance
  • Licenses and Contracts

Everything we raise will go towards the production of this movie: We’re not asking much of you – whatever amount feels right to you - whatever you can spare. Every little bit helps - even a donation as modest as $10 will bring our first filming day a step closer - and we will be profoundly grateful.

We’d love to have you on The Insurance Man team – for additional ways to contribute and collaborate see section Join us Creatively below.

To make this film, we decided not to hold auditions, but to invite certain actors that we knew would be the best representation of the characters. Some of these actors have lived, or live, the circumstances that their characters present in this film. In a way, this film gives them a voice to express to a large audience the challenges they face and the joys of overcoming them, in addition to inspiring others who live with the same or similar circumstances.

Our world is rapidly changing which gives us all an amazing opportunity to change life for the better. The entertainment industry plays a huge role in influencing behavior, sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. Our mission with The Insurance Man is to empower all of us to be co-creators of the kind of world we want to live in: Collaborative, kind and connected.

The most common regret of people in their final days is not having had the courage to live lives true to themselves, and today’s headlines now feature news of “The Great Resignation” as people leave their jobs searching for personal fulfillment of the non-material kind.

The story of our insurance man, Carlo Miranda, living with this conflict of making a living and following his passion, is designed to be transformational. There’s a little bit of the insurance man in all of us and our biggest wish is to empower you to throw off your fears, and share your talents, and never give up on your dreams. We’ll make everyone’s life better when we support one another in sharing our special gifts with the world.

Please join the Ringo Films family and make The Insurance Man journey yours. Your creative and financial contribution towards the making of this film will be your way to co-create a better world. By choosing to support us you will have the chance to:
