Hello, my name is James... and I'm a life-long nerd and coffee lover.
My hope is that together we can build our location in Turlock, California or surrounding towns.
Being an avid nerd and gamer, the idea of having a nerd friendly café came to me many years ago. Growing up in my area of the world, not too many businesses looked kindly on a group of kids (or adults) coming in wanting to play Magic the Gathering and having a meal. Most game stores were either too small to game at, or didn't offer food and drinks.
Why isn't there a place for people to go to and enjoy a great cup of coffee and be able to play Dungeons & Dragons without being hurried out or even flat out being kicked out? Eventually someone will have the amazing idea to combine coffee and gaming... right? Well the answer was no. Until now!
The ultimate goal of the Nerd Core Café is to allow anyone, from any walk of life, to be able to feel welcomed, accepted and safe. No paying customer should ever be rushed or kicked out because they don't fit the social norm of being a nerd.

What is Nerd Core and why a Café?
From comic book collectors to computer programmers, Nerd Core is a group of like minded individuals with a very wide array of interests that fall under the niche “Nerd” or “Geek." Not a "Nerd" but still looking for a creative and welcoming space to enjoy a cup of coffee and work remotely or meet up with others? All are welcome! Let's be real, in the last few years many people have shifted what their work day looks like and many are working from home. For all of you working from home, if you are looking for a change of scenery, you are welcomed to work remotely from Nerd Core Café.
Our goal with the café is to share our nerdy interests in a safe and judgement free zone for all to enjoy.
What to expect once the café is open:
Café section: Custom, hand crafted coffee. Small foods that are made to order. A comfy and welcoming area to relax with your drink and food. Separate from the gaming side to ensure peace and quiet.
Gaming section: Multiple tables available for groups to game, draw or paint miniatures. A variety of games, game books, dice, merchandise and mini’s for sale. A selection of free to use board and card games to pick from and just play.
Activities: Various types of card tournaments; Magic the Gathering, Pokémon etc. Cosplay and Furry gatherings. LARP sessions. Celebrity meet and greets of all nerd genres.
Where will your money go?
Stage 1- Paying for all legal fees and licensing. Start-up utilities. Rent. Renovations (if required).
Stage 2- Purchasing café furnishings; tables, chairs, coffee grinder, espresso machine etc. This is where the bulk of the finances is needed.
Stage 3-Purchasing all the necessary items for creating our drinks and food; cups, silverware and other containers. Purchasing all gaming related items; books, dice, cards etc.
Stage 4- All the bells and whistles that make any business feel welcoming and relaxing. Extra touches, decorations etc.
