THE DREAM.
2 years ago, I bought a beat-up vintage Airtream Overlander with the intention of turning it into the shiny, vegan, rockin' and rollin' salon I knew the Bay Area needs and deserves. Dreaming dreams of hauling this bad motha' to your office, your awesome beer and food festival, or your indie off-beat wedding. I found a contractor to gut her and shine her, and set about creating VaVaVroom Salon.
VaVaVroom Salon will provide vegan- and eco-friendly services and products that we can all stand behind. Also, VaVaVroom Salon will be all about giving to the community: 10% of all product sales, all the time, will be donated to local non profits, and to animal sanctuaries. Finally, all of this will take place in a rad setting that I designed myself - from the colors and fabrics to the David Bowie shrine in the bathroom, I poured my heart and soul into this beauty.
And now VaVaVroom Salon needs your help!
THE STATUS
Here's where VaVaVroom Salon stands. The original contractor took on the project, but completely, horrifically screwed up the trailer's guts! What I initially thought were some minor issues have turned into the complete re-gutting of all plumbing, adding proper reinforcement under the trailer (the bottom would have LITERALLY FALLEN OUT, YOU GUYS, the way the original contractor left it), among countless other fixes and re-dos.
The estimate for all of this work need to fix my girl up - from a highly qualified, and rather pricey contractor - is $10,000. The amount I hope to raise will pay for about one half of this cost, and every little bit will help bring this shiny vegan awesome dream salon to the Bay Area streets, and to you.
As a side note: I've reached out for legal help with respect to the original contractor, but taking someone to court is not fun at all. However, while I am exploring that option, you, my community, VaVaVroom Salon's community, could help get VaVaVroom rolling!
ABOUT ME:
I started running with scissors, doing DIY punk hair cuts, and Kool Aid dyeing my own hair at a very early age. 12 years ago I went to Vidal Sassoon for my formal training and cosmetology license. I can't draw for shit, but hair is my art and I wouldn't trade the cut marks on my knuckles, or the hair splinters I pull out from under my finger nails for anything! 3 years now being vegan, I wanted to incorporate that into my work by offering services that almost don't exist for us. EVERYONE deserves good hair dammit!
I've been continuing to cut and style hair while creating VaVaVroom Salon. You might even know some of my satisfied customers: Marie of http://www.snmvegan.com/#smveganchefs

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Wish me luck! Also, any amount you can contribute to get the beautiful VaVaVroom Salon Airstream rolling to you and your community would be so welcome and so wonderful and so humbling. I've put together some fun VaVaVroom Salon perks for you guys, check them out, and get as many as your heart desires. You will have my eternal gratitude, and you will help bring this exciting, vegan, vintage beauty of a salon to life and to the Bay Area (and beyond!).
VaVaVroom!
