A community radio station is coming, which features a daily mix of American Roots music! Alt-country, Blues, Folk, Bluegrass, Jazz, Celtic, and select tracks of Classic Country and Southern Rock. Specialty shows will feature each genre above plus a strong focus on local, regional and West Virginia heritage music. Interviews and live music broadcasts will be interspersed with recorded music with emphasis on new releases.

Volunteers will be trained as on air talent, all ages and from all sectors of the community. They along with founders Burr Beard and Dawn Warner, will produce shows in the daily format and specialty shows.
The FCC permit HAS BEEN AWARDED! Roots Town has applied for call letters, WXDB that we will become known by. $20,000 needs to be raised along with a $5000 start-up operational fund. Roots Town has partnered with FOOTMAD to act as fiscal agent for the radio station and West Virginia Public Broadcasting for use of tower.
Roots Town is seeking a studio location with offices, studios including a live studio with room for a small audience and for use during fund-raisers. The station will support itself from listener support donations during twice annual drives, as well as contributions from business underwriting and grant-writing.
Volunteer sign-up is underway. An organizational meeting will be held soon and training will follow. Fund-raising has begun.. The goal for launch is summer or fall of 2014.
