About
Us
Just One Humanity is a ground-up movement that focuses on
specific needs of villages to improve quality of life. We focus on the
simple fact that we are all more the same than different when it comes to basic
needs and quality of life. We recognize that global inequities and basic
needs such as clean water, healthcare, etc are not being met for many emergent
nations. We promote needs-based assistance and pro-poor conservation at the
village level in their commitment to self-sufficiency. Just One Humanity
fosters a new paradigm of charity whereby developing nations serve as
responsible citizens of this planet to engage in grass-roots involvement
and become stewards of the environment.
Our mission is to to end extreme poverty in remote
rural areas through sustainable solutions that preserve biodiversity and
inspire global citizenship. We envision a world where basic needs are met
for all people, serving as a foundation for self-sustainability and
environmental stewardship.
We are
currently working on building a community center in Salima, Malawi. The center
will feature an education area for trainings on conservation, farming and
literacy as well as an orphanage and clinic.
Help
Make This A Reality
We have purchased a 3 acres piece of land in Salima, Malawi,
and are ready to start building but we need your help! We need a total of
$35,000 to construct the building, supply food and clothing to the orphans and
fill the clinic with three months worth of medical supplies.
Breakdown of Costs:
$19,850 - building materials and labor
$7,000 - medicine and supplies for clinic
$1,500 - food, clothing and school supplies for
orphans
$2,650 - furniture, computer, front office supplies
The
Impact
With this community center, we will be serving over 20,000
villagers in the surrounding areas. We have picked an optimal location that has
a dirt road right into town. Through the education center, we will be able to
offer trainings on farming techniques, animal husbandry, adult literacy and
conservation. Through these programs we can lower deforestation rates, improve
literacy, minimize livestock disease and increase food availability. The clinic
will treat the most common illnesses in Malawi, including Malaria, HIV/AIDS,
Tuberculosis and decrease the rate of infant and maternal mortality. The
orphanage will impact more than 2,500 children that have lost their mother and
father. We will offer daily meals, clothing, educational materials and school
supplies.
Risks
& Challenges
Theft and vandalism - We will safeguard the center with a
nightly guard, which will not only employ a local villager but also ensure that
the center is not vandalized or robbed. Village Chiefs will be responsible for
the center during the day as well as our managers for each individual facility.
Unknown Weather - Rainy season will pose some difficulty
for us during the building phase of this project, however, we will protect all
building materials in an adjacent facility as to not lose or damage any
materials to wind or rain.
Misuse of Medicines, Supplies and Food - Keeping track of
all items going in and out of the center will be key to ensuring medicines are
not being stolen or misused, food is not being taken from caretakers for
themselves, and chiefs are not taking advantage of supplies. We will keep an
inventory sheet for each area, the clinic, education area and orphanage. Our
community director will be doing weekly check-ins and inventory counts to
ensure accountability.
Other
Ways You Can Help
If you can't help monetarily, that's ok. Sometimes, we
think we have to donate a certain amount, but that is not the case, Just one
dollar can make all the difference when it comes to this center. And if you can
get everyone in your office or class to donate a dollar, imagine the
possibilities! If you cannot donate at all, please share this on social media,
tell a friend or relative, you can make a difference and have a huge influence
on those in your circle.
We thank you for your consideration and
support. Remember, just one connection can change a life.
