Who we are and what we're doing here:
A group of amateur weirdos looking to turn pro...idealistic filmmakers and artists banding together to fight the good fight...one man's long and pleasant fever dream. These are all and none of the ways we describe ourselves.
Basically, we're looking to add energy to our local art scene and our first step on that journey is creating an alternative film festival in Long Beach and legitimizing our business. While exciting, these first steps come with costs.
The goal of this campaign is to help recoup some of the initial setup costs and give us the opportunity to cover some of the upfront costs that come with running a film festival.
How, how much and how come:
We are looking to raise $1000 in order to cover some of the film festival costs such as venue costs, equipment rentals and any other costs we encounter on the road to making an awesome event.
In order to reward those who help us reach our goal, we are offering perks related to our film festival - tickets, merchandise and also the opportunity to follow along with process of putting together our event!
If we don't make our full goal, we will absolutely still hold our film festival - it will just be a little more on the DIY side, and that's totally fine! We've already put in some of the groundwork to make sure the festival will be awesome.
And if we exceed our goal, we'll be able to add more value to our event - more venues (which means more accepted films), better rewards for the filmmakers, and an overall better experience for the attendees!
This campaign is important to us because we want to not only hold a great event but we also want to create a year round connection with our community and the artists that reside in it.
The gamble and gratitude:
Certainly nothing is guaranteed but we have a great team working with us and know with the support of our friends, family and cool strangers we have a chance to do something really special. We feel that our commitment to community and desire to engage with our neighbors and local business community will help push this event past the finish line.
Whatever support you can offer is appreciated more than you know. Even just sharing our campaign helps with our overall goal of getting people to know who we are and what we're trying to.
