The video says it all - 783 million people don't have safe drinking water, which leads to a death every 21 seconds. Hays PureWater was founded in 2006 with a simple mission - provide safe drinking water to the millions with out. So we invented a solution to fix it. An easy to use, solar powered, affordable solution. The Khlor Gen 3000.

The Khlor Gen is a simple unit that turns salt water into chlorine. The chlorine is then used to treat infected water from any source. Beyond its main purpose, the chlorine can also be used as a general disinfectant, and bug repellent in malaria zones. 

We want to put 30 of these units in the field, providing pure drinking water to nearly 150,000 people. We have friends and partners in Haiti, Sierra Leone, India, and South Sudan that are ready to help get these units into the areas that need them the most.

In the last 8 years, Hays PureWater has distributed over 4,000 units around the world, giving clean water to millions. 

There have been entire communities that have been changed through the implementation of this system. We could tell heaps of stories, but one really sticks out to us in particular, the very first one.

John Hays was in a village in Tanzania in 2006. The hospital there was treating 120 typhoid cases a month, with the babies suffering the worst of it. He was shown the burial area, and was asked to help stop the deaths. From this, John put his years of municipal experience to work, and created the Khlor Gen. After implementing his prototype of the system, typhoid cases went down to 0 over the course of the next year.
