Short Summary
Hi everyone, Doug here. I've been in Asheville for twenty years off and on. I started an online business several years ago out of necessity, when I was about to get full custody of my little girl and could no longer work nights waiting tables. After many sleepless nights, I figured it out. I would sell video games! I thought I knew a great deal about them, so why not? Well that's worked out for me personally, but because my business is all online, I don't feel like my business is really a part of the community, and that's something I want to change. While I'm at it I'd like to expand so sell items that represent some of my other favorite things. In general I'm a big nerd at heart, so I love things like comics, vinyl albums, collectible figures, and just about anything video game related. I've been to a similar store up north years ago and it just blew me away, it was a complete nerdgasm! Well I want to bring that experience to all my friends and neighbors here.
What We Need & What You Get
So I've got a business plan written, suppliers at the ready, a location picked out; and as it turns out, opening such a great store is not cheap! It's going to take a great deal of money to get this thing going, so here's what I'm proposing to give back to anyone willing to help. I want you all as future long time customers, so every dollar you put in, you will be able to get back in store credit, and maybe even more! For example, if you give $20, you get a $20 gift card, $50 gets you a $50 gift card, and so on. At higher levels, $100 and above, I will give you the choice of a matching amount gift card, or a one year percentage discount (from 10 to 25%, depending on your initial investment) that you can use unlimited times for a full calendar year. That could equate to hundreds in savings!
In the event we don't reach the full amount we seek, the store will still open, it just may take more time as I seek more traditional loan sources. When the store opens, all gift cards will be honored (we also have a warehouse we ship from in Arden, you can stop by and use your card there if you like)
The Impact
We plan to be a big part of our beloved city, giving back regularly to our favorite charity in town Brother Wolf, and others. Besides that heck, we could create a few jobs for some like minded nerds! I've run a successful online game business for eight years now, I look forward to expanding to be a big part of our beloved Asheville community!
Risks & Challenges
While no business is guaranteed to succeed, I have a proven business track record and serious work ethic. Frankly, the only risk or challenge will be making this store meet all of your expectations in the coming years.
