Welcome to Lynx Mountain Guides of Vermont.
We have been leading adventure trips for over 20 years including: rock and ice climbing, canoeing and kayaking, mountaineering, backpacking, mountain biking, and backcountry skiing. We take outdoor leadership very seriously and work hard to be trained and practiced in the latest techniques in order to keep everyone safe.
Independently, we have learned that the most powerful part of the trip is often the bonds that participants form with the land and the communities they interact with. Together, we have founded Lynx to offer high quality, professionally-guided experiences with an emphasis on linking the participants to the people and the environments around them. We understand what makes a safe and quality experience, and our focus on responsible business practices will set us apart from other guide services as well as do our part to improve our world.
Through Lynx, we will show people great adventures in the varied natural areas of the northeast, and we will also work to protect them through educational programs, outreach, service work, community involvement, and responsible & sustainable business practices. We know that protecting the natural world and the integrity of our communities will not occur without first having a relationship with them. We are seeking your contribution so that we can foster these relationships.
We need assistance obtaining initial capital costs: getting the equipment we need to offer these programs. We require $3,500 for climbing equipment (harnesses, helmets, shoes, hardware, and ropes); $400 for general outdoor gear (first aid kits, maps, and guide books); $1,800 for overnight camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags and pads, and cookware). Less sexy, but just as necessary, we need a $1,500 for insurance and $2,500 for marketing and advertising such as web-hosting fees, printed marketing materials, third party advertising fees, and loads of Lynx-branded merchandise (so everyone that sees your backer perk can have their own!).
To say thank you, contributions earn you a gift certificate to our programs for double the contributed amount (up $1000) and some of our awesome Lynx merchandise. We've also partnered with local businesses to bring you additional perks: authentic Japanese ramen (www.misohungryramen.com), Vermont maple syrup products (www.wayeesesfarms.com), fair-trade, organically- grown, locally-roasted coffee (https://www.facebook.com/olddodgefarm), and local Vermont fraw honey (http://www.honeyhillfarmsvt.com).
This summer's operations will proceed regardless of us reaching our fundraising goal; your contributions will enable our inaugural year be a huge success. Keep an eye on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/lynxguides/) and our News and Events page to follow us on our adventures (http://www.lynxmountainguides.com/#!news-events...)
We greatly appreciate any help you are able to offer to us. If that can’t be monetary, there are other ways to help Lynx: share this with people you know would be interested; we are seeking clients as well as backers. You may have noticed gear is a big part of our need; if you have gear that we could use in the program, or that we could sell, please contact us to work out the perks of the trade.
We started Lynx Mountain Guides of Vermont to help people experience and forge a connection to the landscapes, adventures, and cultures that Vermont and the surrounding states have to offer. Thank you for your interest, your contribution and spreading the word about this endeavor.
Sincerely,
Craig Cimmons & Nicholas Ruschmeyer
