Summary
Envisioned and
brought to life by local, well known IBCLCs, Crissi Blake and Nina Isaac, Milk
and Honey will be the first breastfeeding and postpartum center of its kind in Southern
Arizona. The need for this center has been a dream for both mothers and
professionals in our community for decades.
Opening this
summer, Milk and Honey will be a place where moms can feel safe in a warm and
nurturing environment while receiving the breastfeeding and postpartum support
they so desperately need.
Nina's Story
I am a
bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist and Internationally Board Certified
Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), specializing in infant feeding and
breastfeeding.
After
experiencing my own breastfeeding struggles, I knew that I wanted to support,
help and empower other moms. By the time I became an IBCLC in 2010, I had not
only successfully breastfed my own 3 beautiful daughters, but had also helped
hundreds of moms successfully breastfeed their own children. With my combined
knowledge as a speech pathologist and an IBCLC I am able to help moms and
babies with a variety of breastfeeding difficulties ranging from simple latch
and positioning to more complex breastfeeding issues.

Crissi's Story
I am a
Registered Nurse and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant
(IBCLC).
After
focusing my education on Early Childhood Education and Public Health, I went on
to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and later a Postpartum RN.
Both of which put me on the path to finding my passion of working with babies
and young children with feeding difficulties After having personally received
help from an IBCLC I have been able to successfully breastfeed my own children.
Receiving this help was a defining moment for me in realizing how much support
women need after babies have arrived. I knew then that I wanted to devote my
time to helping women in the same way.

Our Story
We first met
when a friend referred Crissi to me (Nina) for infant massage when my first child was a
newborn. Our paths continued to cross over the next several years until we met
up again after becoming IBCLCs. We realized our passions and missions were the
same. We also realized that our combined backgrounds and complimentary skill
sets would allow us to reach families needing more specialized support. It was
in that moment that Milk and Honey was born.
