My Background (Dawn Prokop)
7 years ago I started a recycling business = Re-Sourceress.
With the help of Ruth Bleeker, we successfully recycled indoor & outdoor festivals in Dallas for several years. We promoted “education thru action” in an effort to show Dallas how to dispose of their trash.
It was during an outdoor food festival that the vision of the utensil kits was born. We asked the question, “What will it take to help people become more mindful about the way they consume?”
Fast-Forward 7 years and the vision materialized. Dawn’s vision was brought to life with the help of CJ Vaughn (a self-taught engineer and product design specialist).
What You Get

- 3 pieces of cutlery heads that screw into the handles (fork, knife, spoon) ... your choice of stainless steel or copper
- 2 wooden chopstick heads that screw into the handles
- 1 zipper pouch to store and transport parts
- 1 soft pouch with long shoulder strap for easy transportation
Thru personal savings and funds, the first batch of product has been created and is ready for shipment. Product has been undergoing Quality Control and Testing for the past 6 months.

The Impact
This is a Global Impact. We are all responsible for our environment. Our choices matter. Consider that France has just banned all plastic utensils, cups and plates. Our rate of consumption and disposal CANNOT CONTINUE. We have to change our patterns.

Risks & Challenges
Airport Security:
Current challenge is whether this design is TSA compliant for carry-on. We sell to several flight attendants and they have no problem carrying it on, but each terminal could be different.
Knife Attachment:
The solid copper knife head has the potential to bend. Copper is a soft metal and the knife is not designed for heavy cutting. We are working on a “steak knife” out of brass and stainless steel that will still complement each set.
