Pittonkatonk is celebrating its 5th year! We need your support to make it happen.
It's important for us to run this campaign to help cover costs of the event (totaling $20,000). Without your donations we cannot make Pittonkatonk happen.
Community-owned means we need your buy-in.

What We Need & What You Get
Breaking down what we need:
- We need $20,000 to make this incredible day in the park happen. This includes permits, space rental, band fees, porta potties, security, insurance, promotion, and food.
- Band fees and stipends cost $10,000. All the rest costs about $5,000-10,000.
- If we don't reach our goal, our organizers are responsible for it personally.

The Impact
Your contribution will help us sustain our dynamic programming and keep the event free of corporate sponsorship. Pittonkatonk is a grass-roots, volunteer-run social and environmental justice organization that promotes creativity and critical thought by way of music making and participatory events in and around the Pittsburgh Area. The annual Brass BBQ, held the first Saturday of May, encourages participants to engage in making the event happen through bringing shared food dishes, volunteering to run the event, hosting traveling musicians, promoting the event, and performance.
- Pittonkatonk is unlike other events because it celebrates the people, not the interest of sponsors. Pittonkatonk doesn't work without community investment. By investment we mean volunteering, donations, potluck contributions, maintaining the space, and enjoying our event!
- Pittonkatonk has continued to evolve, not only as a showcase for world music, but also as a platform for artists and organizations to connect and celebrate their shared missions to a diverse audience of 5,000+ attendees. As that number increases, Pittonkatonk strives to connect to a larger audience and to function as a networking agent that incubates and promotes new creative collaborations, with the resulting musical works premiering annually at the May Day celebration. As the city and country continue to change, Pittonkatonk’s goal is to amplify the voices of marginalized artists working towards equality.

Risks & Challenges
We never thought Pittonkatonk would continue to grow to the level it has! This growth means more responsibility for us as an organization. That means we need resources to ensure the safety of our attendees and participants, and those resources cost money.
- With 5,000 expected attendees, if everyone chipped in $10 per person, we could pull off our program. So for the cost of a movie ticket, we can create one of the most unique Pittsburgh events for all to experience and enjoy.

- Sharing our campaign with your friends & neighbors
- Volunteering the day of the event to help make it all happen
- Distributing posters & newsletters about the event
- Making your favorite food dish to share at our potluck
