Help saving the Tibetan Mastiffs in China! #SaveTheMastiffs
Every year hundreds of thousands of dogs are being slaughtered for their meat, fur and skin in China. Many of these dogs have been stolen, kept in horrible conditions without food and water for days. If they survive this treatment they are loaded in cramped cages onto trucks to be sent to slaughterhouses across China.
But many many Chinese people do not want to be part of this horrible trade anymore. Thanks to social media the rescue groups can now get the information out very fast to the public. And thanks to many brave Chinese people that thousands of dogs (and cats) are being rescued every year.
During the rescue in February 2015, the rescue groups found 150 large dogs onboard a truck and 20 of these dogs were Tibetan Mastiffs on one truck. It's very unusual to find so many Tibetan Mastiffs in one rescue.

After being rescued off the trucks, the dogs are being placed out to different shelters across several cities in Northern China. Eight of The Tibetan Mastiffs were sent to the "Luckier Animal Shelter" just outside of Beijing city.

With this campaign I want to raise awareness of the situation for dogs in China and especially for The Tibetan Mastiffs. This particular breed is an unique breed with a lot of history and mystique. It is important to save this amazing breed from torture and extinction due to the illegal dog meat, leather and fur trade in China.
My first contact with the Tibetan Mastiff was in Summer 2014. I was totally blown away by the beauty and intelligence of this breed. When the illegal transport was stopped in February 2015 I decided to help as many of The Tibetan Mastiffs as possible, starting with eight of them at "Luckier Animal Shelter" . All eight are in good health and are very friendly and playful. They all deserve a good home!
Would you like to help me help them?

The Tibetan Mastiffs need vaccinations, microchip, veterinary exam and food to maintain their welfare. They will also be spayed/neutered to eliminate the risk of unnecessary breeding. Upon completion of the treatments, we need to find good homes for them in China or possibly overseas as it is difficult to find homes for them in China, because they are banned in many places and the risk to get stolen again is very high.

Would you like to contribute on their journey to a better life?
Maybe you are interested in giving them a home?
Before they can get adopted they will need:
1. To be fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and examed by a vet
2. Requirements for adopting:
-
must have experience with large dogs
- must have a lot of space and preferable in the country side
- understand rescued dogs (must be able and willing to work with the dogs if needed)
3. If adopting from overseas, the dogs must have a blood test, have an animal passport and health certificate. Preferably if adopting family can travel with the dog(s), otherwise with flight volunteers.
Please email and tell me about yourself if you're interested in adopting.

The donations will cover the treatments, nutritious food for the Tibetan Mastiffs and improvement of the living condition at the shelters. Tibetan Mastiffs are very large dogs and they need a secure place with a lot of space.
