Why we're here:
You may have heard how the biggest name in subscription-based crowdfunding changed it terms of service, and you might have heard about the open letter created by adult content / LGBT activists in response to that. What you probably have not heard about is the quiet settling of fear and unease that's spread throughout the more niche erotic art and comic communities. Some artists and animators have been purged, others are preemptively censoring themselves, and the rest are simply trying to come to terms with a world where their livelihoods can be shredded at any moment without warning.
Sponsorion first took root when a group of artists, writers, and programmers began searching for a more stable alternative. What they found was depressing - aside from a few alt-right crowdfunding sites (the most notable is literally named "Hatreon", we're serious), there doesn't exist a single crowdfunding site that is open to all creators. All of the big names have ToS that enable them to purge unfashionable creators whenever their investors and business partners demand it. Is this how we want the world to be? Where the only way for niche content creators and small businesses to have a stable, secure income source is to sign up with literal neo-nazis?
No! So we began the process of looking into creating a competitor site. Was this idea feasible? Could we get the rates low enough to truly compete? Yes! High-risk payment processing has gotten far more competitive in the past decade - we're looking at processing fees very close to those of the big names (3.95% + 35c). We don't want to be the site certain groups have to use, we want to be the site they WANT to use - and we can do it!
A platform that doesn't discriminate, that's competitive enough for creators of all types to seriously consider. That's our dream, and with your help it'll be our reality.
How will the money be spent?
We've already put our own funds towards this project, but that'll leave us with little wiggle room. Thus, our goals:
UPDATE: We've secured over 15k in outside funding (particularly large transfers done outside of Indiegogo), and are currently in the process of securing an additional 10k. Thus, our goals have been met!
Achieved! (6k) The Basics - We'll have enough to pay the initial expenses of setting up the business, developing the website, and paying the server costs for a few months.
Achieved! (15k) - Negotiation Upgrade - We're going to be in a much stronger position in our negations with our payment processor.
Achieved! (25k) - WebDev Upgrade - We'll be able to augment our in-house programmer with a team of contractors! This will allow us to get the site online faster and with additional features.
Current - Any additional funding past this point will further aid us in negotiations with payment processors and will be used to help fund the business during the first few months after we go live in Spring 2018. Thank you so much for your support!
What features are planned?
- Intuitive and rapid content navigation using galleries, filters, and tags.
- Ability to have multiple goal and reward tier levels.
- Ability to post images/video/polls/text (Of course).
- Ability to set Pay Upfront.
- Transparent billing process.
- The low 5% + (payment processor cost) fee that's the gold standard in crowdfunding.
- Chargeback protection.
- And much more!

Who are you?
Our team consists of Yannick "Eldrik Aethervial" Dubreuil (graphic designer and professional artist / comic maker), Courtney Teitelman (professional artist), and an in-house programmer. We also have access to a wider network of legal, tech, and financial contacts offering us aid and advice. If we blew our goals away we'd also be hiring a group of additional contractors to help our in-house programmer perfect the site.
Other ways to help:
Spread the word! We know there are thousands of creators and artists out there who are wishing for a place like this to exist, and we want to make it happen!
Tell me about the perks:
Website / small business campaigns often offer premium memberships and the like.. but making an account on our site is going to be free in the first place! Our business model consists of offering a platform, and taking a tiny cut of the transactions that occur on it. Our margins are already going to be as low as we can make them, so discounts were out as well.
Thus, art! With the exception of "Sponsorion Spotlight", all of our perks involve drawings, art books, custom comics, etc. See below for examples of Yannick's previous works.
