Stone Supporter of the Highest Caliber:
It’s been a few weeks since the curtain dropped on the initial phase of the Stone Groundbreaking Collaborations. You recognized the brewing talent we gathered to rally behind this mammoth undertaking, and you had the trust in Stone and our team of collaborators. All this allows us to reward your faith and foresight. And not just by eventually presenting you with what you purchased. That would be fine, but we’re not accustomed to shooting for what’s “fine.” We like to go the extra mile, especially for those we hold in the highest regard: YOU! The following is what you can expect in exchange for your hard-earned money and belief in Stone Brewing Co.
-
Stone Groundbreaking Collaboration Purchasers: In addition to the 1.5L bottle(s) you purchased, when you pick-up your beer(s), you will also receive…
-
A complimentary taster of a Stone Groundbreaking Collaboration beer you bought a 1.5L bottle of (OR a pour of another exceptional Stone specialty release of your choosing). It’s big. You’re probably going to focus on a special occasion to open it. We don’t want that to be your only opportunity to try a taste of that or another Stone Groundbreaking Collaboration, so we’re going to pour you one when you come by! This is, of course, all pending availability. We will strive to keep these beers on tap at all times for you (and you only…these beers will not be made available to the general public, just Stone Groundbreaking Collaboration purchasers, increasing the probability of them being in stock). We’ll make our tap schedule available so you can both whet your appetite and adequately prepare.
-
25% off all Stone merchandise in the Stone Company Store purchased by you on the day you pick up your Stone Groundbreaking Collaboration beer(s). This applies to those who purchased a Stone Groundbreaking Collaboration beer that did NOT get in early enough to get the “Team Stone for a Day” included in your purchase.
-
Stone Berlin DVD (or whatever form of contemporary data storage is en vogue by then) chronicling the “making of” the brewery in which your beers were brewed!
-
Stone Berlin stickers made exclusively for Stone Groundbreaking Collaborations participants. Only you get ‘em. These will not be sold in stores at any price.
-
T-Shirt & Glass Purchasers: In addition to the stylish Stone Brewing Co. – Berlin t-shirt and commemorative glass you purchased, you will also receive…
-
A SECOND commemorative glass. That’s right, you only bought one, but you’re getting TWO! We want you drinking in style, but not alone. Thus, two glasses.
-
Stone Berlin stickers made exclusively for Stone Groundbreaking Collaborations participants. Only you get ‘em. These will not sold in stores at any price. We’re thinking of making some special coasters, too. We’re not 100% certain we will, but if we do, we’ll give you a small stack of those as well.
You didn’t know any of these extras were on the table when you pre-ordered your items, which makes you all the more deserving of them. We look forward to the day when you can enjoy them all, and thank you again for your belief in Stone!
Cheers,
Greg Koch

We want to thank all the craft beer fans who've made our Stone Groundbreaking Collaborations campaign such a wild success.
Time is running out, however, to reserve bottles of our final four collaboration beers at their pre-brewed, campaign-exclusive prices. The campaign closes at 11:59 p.m. FRIDAY, AUGUST 29.
Thanks again for making this such a successful effort. We look forward to further showing you our appreciation with some incredible, incredible beers!
This is NOT a fundraising campaign! It is an exclusive 'presales' event.
You see, we at the Stone Brewing Co. are going to brew you some highly unique, specially bottled beers in celebration of our exciting new announcements. We’re embarking on a pair of grand-scale brewery projects in Berlin, Germany, and the eastern U.S. These special collaboration beers will be brewed in our spectacular new Berlin location; and you can bet they will fly directly in the face of Germany's Reinheitsgebot.
That’s awesome—but why am I reading this on Indiegogo?
The “crowd source” website is the perfect way to bring you beers that, well, don’t even exist. Yet. We’re offering you unique 1.5-liter bottled “beer futures” at a special price that is exclusive to this campaign. Direct from us to you.
Indiegogo is the platform we’ve selected to facilitate preorder sales of these beers, which will be brewed at our Berlin facility once it’s up and running. We also added some other “perks” in celebration of our next chapters for those who are interested.
But not just any beer.
We’ve invited many of our longtime brewing compatriots—from across the world—to commemorate the arrival of these new chapters in the history of Stone by collaborating with us to create once-in-a-lifetime beers to share with you.
And they will absolutely be phenomenal! Our stable of collaborators includes the biggest names in the craft brewing industry—masters of barrel aging, blending, hopping, souring; standard-bearers of craft brewing known and renowned the world over; this assemblage of brewing royalty is legit…just as the beer will be.
Surly/Stone Collaboration details:
- Voucher for ONE (1) 1.5-liter bottle of beer, which is the size of two 750-milliliter bottles (Yay, math!). Such a smokin’ good deal for what will be a furiously first-rate beer.
- For this, Surly’s first-ever collaboration with us, Surly and Stone promise they’re going to make you a beer that will take time and a lot of money to brew, and it will be worth that time and money.
- An official Thank-you with your name in the credits of the video that we’ll make to document this beer’s brew day, featuring the collaboration brewers.
- $10 Gift Card to Surly Brewing Co. (Limited to the first 1,000 individual bottles sold.)
- If you live in Europe, then shipping beer direct to you isn’t the legal tangle it is in the U.S. So, when we notify you that the beer is ready, you’ll have the option to choose to pay an additional fee to have it shipped to you.
- No worries about a narrow pickup window: You (or your proxy) will have ONE (1) YEAR from the date it becomes available to pick up your beer.
- Pickup locations include:
- Stone Brewing Co. – Escondido
- Stone Brewing Co. – Pasadena
- Stone Brewing Co. – Eastern U.S.
- Stone Brewing Co. – Berlin
Jolly Pumpkin/Nøgne Ø/Stone Collaboration details:
- Voucher for ONE (1) 1.5-liter bottle of beer, which is the size of two 750-milliliter bottles (Yay, math!).
- These craft comrades will tap their collaborative spirits by reviving the trio’s 2008 brew, Special Holiday Ale—liquid cheer gifted with chestnuts, juniper berries, white sage, caraway seed, oats and rye malt. For this new and bigger edition, don’t be surprised if the brewers pick more goodies from their master wish list. Either way, expect to be quite happy tasting this Holiday beer.
- An official Thank-you with your name in the credits of the video that we’ll make to document this beer’s brew day, featuring the collaboration brewers.
- $10 Gift Cards, one each, to Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales and Nøgne Ø. (Limited to the first 1,000 individual bottles sold.)
- If you live in Europe, then shipping beer direct to you isn’t the legal tangle it is in the U.S. When we notify you that the beer is ready, you’ll have the option to choose to pay an additional fee to have it shipped to you.
- No worries about a narrow pickup window: You (or your proxy) will have ONE (1) YEAR from the date it becomes available to pick up your beer.
- Pickup locations include:

- Stone Brewing Co. – Eastern U.S.
- Stone Brewing Co. – Berlin
The Bodebrown/Stone Collaboration details:
- Voucher for ONE (1) 1.5-liter bottle of beer, which is the size of two 750-milliliter bottles (Yay, math!).
- Stone and Bodebrown have arguably already pulled off a groundbreaking collaboration: a cocoa-tinged India pale ale brewed in 2013. Cacau IPA was the first of its kind made in Bodebrown’s home turf of Brazil and won a trio of shiny accolades. They’re going to brew up a tasty something again, this time in Berlin. A cranked-up, more chocolaty Cacau IPA, perhaps?
- An official Thank-you with your name in the credits of the video that we’ll make to document this beer’s brew day, featuring the collaboration brewers.
- $10 Gift Card to Cervejaria Bodebrown. (Limited to the first 1,000 individual bottles sold.)
- If you live in Europe, then shipping beer direct to you isn’t the legal tangle it is in the U.S. When we notify you that the beer is ready, you’ll have the option to choose to pay an additional fee to have it shipped to you.
- No worries about a narrow pickup window: You (or your proxy) will have at least ONE (1) YEAR from the date it becomes available to pick up your beer. This particular collaboration, however, will probably not lend itself well to cellaring, so plan on swinging by as close to the beer's ready date as possible.
- Pickup locations include:
- Stone Brewing Co. – Escondido
- Stone Brewing Co. – Pasadena
- Stone Brewing Co. – Eastern U.S.
- Stone Brewing Co. – Berlin
ENCORE RELEASES
Bruery/Stone Collaboration Details:
- Voucher for ONE (1) 1.5-liter bottle of beer, which is the size of two 750-milliliter bottles (Yay, math!).
Our friends up the road in Orange County are expert yeast and bacteria wranglers who create wildly inventive and top-shelf bottle-conditioned beers. For this particular brew, the label might say, “Something Something Imperial Berliner Weisse.” Or something entirely different.
An official Thank-you with your name in the credits of the video that we’ll make to document this beer’s brew day, featuring the collaboration brewers.

What’s the timeline for these beers' arrival and where can I get them?
Stone Berlin should be up and running by late 2015, and the same goes for our eastern U.S. brewery, but this is construction we’re talking about, so we can’t set our debut dates in stone. (See what we did there?) But know this: As soon as Berlin is ready to roll, we’ll start scheduling with our collaboration friends to head over and brew these beers with us. Once they’re complete, we will waste zero time notifying you. We won’t rush the brewing process, though. Some will require significant brewing and/or aging time, but that’s what you’re paying for: beers that will require extra time and effort to get to that über-überized level of incredibility. And when these incredible creations are ready, we’ll ship them to a quartet of pickup locations (Stone Company Store – Escondido, Stone Company Store – Pasadena, Stone Company Store – Berlin and our yet-to-be-announced eastern U.S. location).

Any questions?
Despite our gift for comprehensive, informative, entertaining (and exhaustively lengthy) prose, there’s almost no chance that all of your questions on this endeavor have been answered. It’s a big undertaking unlike anything any other brewery in the history of the world has taken on, so there’s a lot to take in. To help out, we’ve put together some FAQ (frequently asked questions…just in case “What does FAQ stand for?” was one of your questions). If you still have question marks occupying comic-esque thought bubbles o’er your noggin, chime in via the Comments section.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How old must I be to purchase a collaboration beer?
You must be 21 years of age at the time of purchase. This is the law, so it’s best not to employ creative—nay, misguidedly hopeful—mathematics. Unless you’re European, in which case you need to be of legal drinking age in your country.
Can I buy beer now if I’m not 21 but will be 21 by 2015?
Again, you must be of legal drinking age AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.
Can I buy beer now if I’m not 21 but am giving it as a gift to someone who is 21?
No.
When will the beer be brewed?
We anticipate brewing the beers from late 2015 through early 2017. We’re promising amazing, mind-blowing beers—thus, they will take time.
How much beer will there be and where will it be brewed?
During the course of this campaign, we’ll announce new collaborations. The beers will all be brewed in BERLIN, GERMANY, with our collaborators (we’re flying them out there, and putting them up for a few days). How many beers really depends on you guys. The more you front for, the more we’ll make.
Just how rare are these beers?
Pretty damn rare! The 1.5-liter bottles in this campaign will ONLY be sold by us during the crowd-participation campaign—from the time of announcement until the time they sell out or the campaign ends, whichever comes first.
Where will the pickup spots be located?
That list currently includes Stone Brewing Co. – Escondido, Stone Company Store – Pasadena, Stone Brewing Co. – Berlin and the yet-to-be-determined site of our eastern U.S. facility, but additional locations may be added between now and pickup time.
Can you ship me my beer?
We’d love to ship beer within the U.S., but shipping beer in the U.S. is a complex web of scary state-by-state regulations, and we fear that badges would be on us faster than you can say “Carmen San Diego” if we had a hiccup. Thus, you will be asked to choose your pickup point from Stone locations when the beer is almost ready.
If you are not shipping beer in the U.S., what are you sending me?
We’ll send you a delightfully rare, never-before-seen certificate that will be redeemable, at a time yet to be determined, for the precious bottle of beer you buy today. Don’t worry: When it gets closer to beer o’clock, we’ll send you an email with further instructions. You will also receive a high-resolution certificate via email recognizing you as an official Cross-Planetary Brewing Revolutionary.
Are you shipping beer direct in Europe?
It’s pretty much legal to ship beer direct to consumers in Europe, so yes. When the beer is ready, you’ll be notified and asked if you want to pick it up or if you want it shipped to you. If you select the latter, there will be a charge to cover shipping and handling. However, we think you’ll want to come get it in person in order to see our awesome new place.
What if I lose my voucher?
Don’t! ‘Tis a precious item. (But if you do, just shoot us an email)
What if I want to switch the collaboration beer I purchased to another collaboration beer in the series?
We understand being selective. We were VERY specific in our choices, too. Just wait until you see all the incredible folks we’ll be brewing with! We don’t well up with glee in making this decree, but NO CHANGES will be allowed. Once a decision is made, the die is cast.
What if I have a change of heart and no longer want the collaboration beer I purchased?
Sorry, but all sales are final. Choose wisely and be at peace with your decision before clicking CONTRIBUTE.
Will any of these beers be available for retail purchase later on?
Anyone, including distributing companies and retail operations, can purchase the beers during the campaign at the same price as the general public. There is no way for us to police who purchases the beers via this platform. However, if it should end up being resold at a retail establishment, it will have traveled from Distributor to Retailer and gotten marked up along the way, thus the Retailer will be selling it at a substantially higher price (that’s how the beer biz generally works). Additionally, it’s possible these beers will be available in different, non-commemorative bottles containing only 750 milliliters of beer versus the 1.5 liters those who purchase the beers now on Indiegogo will receive.
How many collaboration beers may I purchase?
First off, we LOVE your attitude and are glad to say you can purchase as many as you like. Often there’s a per-person limit at your retailer for ultra-rare beers, but because you’re buying “beer futures” and we’re making the beer for you, we don’t have that same problem.

STONE BERLIN
Stone Brewing Co. will transform a historic gasworks complex into a one-of-a-kind destination that includes:
· A spectacular red brick main hall built in 1901 measuring 43,000 square feet (4,000 s.m.), featuring a vaulted ceiling that will house a custom-built, stainless steel brewhouse, an eclectic farm-to-table restaurant, and retail store featuring specialty Stone beers and merchandise.
· A second, 20,775-square-foot (1,930 s.m.) building that will be utilized for brewing operations and house fermenters, bright tanks, and packaging equipment and materials. Ultimately, the company’s signature ales will be packaged and distributed throughout Europe from the facility. Occasionally, special beers may make their way across the pond to the U.S. for distribution.
