Summer Camp for Underprivileged Youth
Volunteering and organizing community outreaches have been my passion during my university years. I have been active in organizing/volunteering in medical missions and Christmas outreaches and whatever need arises specifically to the community in Philcoa, Quezon City. I was able to befriend families, underprivileged youth, and street children when I was still living in the Philippines.
I am now working overseas since 2012. Thankfully, I got connected to a local church, Bible Christian Fellowship which has been serving them, helping them with school-related needs, feeding them, bringing them to museums, etc. We believe these kind of activities will be able to lure them away from the streets, vices, drugs, and early pregnancies.
You can read more about who they are in www.10sand20s.blogspot.com (my personal blog about my children's ministry).
As my physical involvement has been curtailed, I can only support them by rallying people to help.
This coming summer, Bible Christian Fellowship is organizing a youth camp, a 3-day event that aims to introduce these young people to individuals who have gone through the same hardships and have overcome them.
Their goal is to raise $ 1,500 (P 90,000) to provide assistance on camp fees for deserving teens who can't raise enough, valuable study material, transport, accommodation, and take-home kits. The camp fee for one teenager costs around $58 (P 2600) and we are targeting about 50 participants.
This event will surely make an impact to the lives of these young people inspiring them to overcome and go after their dreams. If only we care enough, we will do something and help to make this camp happen on April 29-May 1, 2016. It will be held at Philip's Sanctuary, Antipolo, Rizal.
Your help is truly valuable. Let's make a difference in the lives of these young people!
