Cooking isn’t just about eating. It’s about expression, creativity, love and most of all fun. My mission is to bring fun food to the masses and what better to do that with than EGGS?! They’re round, they’re nutritious and absolutely ADORABLE.
After months of sketching and prototyping, I finally created the perfect way to jazz up your morning - introducing Cat Fried Egg Mold by Egg Addiction. A cat-shaped mold, guaranteed to make your sunny side up eggs Purrfect.

I designed Cat Fried Egg Mold to be a fun and easy way to jazz up your everyday sunny side up eggs.
Simply place the cat mold on your frying pan and crack two eggs. Place the yolks into the rings and watch as these eggs slowly transform into an adorable cat.

Of all the food ingredients out there, none are as irreplaceable or as cute as eggs. Eggs are used in recipes everywhere around the world. You can fry them, boil them, use them to make pastries. It’s hard to think of a more versatile and essential ingredient in the field of cooking.
Simply put, I am addicted to eggs. Eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs, omelets, deviled eggs, any type of eggs you name it - they’re all wonderful and amazing.
That’s why I started Egg Addiction, a blog dedicated to sharing with the world the recipes and techniques I’ve gathered from cooking and eating. But mostly eating.

Prototyping

Although a Cat Fried Egg Mold may seem like a simple product, the actual design process was pretty tedious and complicated. Over the course of about 4 months, I have tested different sizes, different types of silicone, and even prototyped several versions of the mold. After perfecting the size and structure of the silicone, I sourced for the perfect sample from the best manufacturer. I have finally created the PURRFECT cat egg mold.

Here are the many different prototypes I had tested with 3 manufacturers. I came across several main key points I wanted to perfect while designing the cat fried egg mold.
- Dishwasher Safe
- Durable
- Heat resistant up to 450 Fahrenheit or 230 Celsius
- BPA and Led Free
- FDA (USA) and LFGB (Germany/EU) approved
The picture only shows a "handful" of the prototypes. I have about 100 more prototypes in a huge box in my kitchen pantry. I have tested many different Cat Fried Egg Molds and COOKED EVEN MORE EGGS than I have ever in my lifetime. haha :D

All of these requirements actually made the cost of the original mold a lot higher. Ultimately I wanted to create a durable product, better and safer than anything else on the market. I can guarantee the quality is amazing.

The above picture shows the different depth as well as thickness of the silicone I have tested. You can see that the orange prototype is only 13mm whereas the final prototype pink cat mold is 17mm high. Also, the thickness of the new prototype is over 40% more compared to the original prototype. Over the course of the 4 months I discovered that these dimensions in size, thickness, and depth allows the most durability and structure for cooking.

You can see in the above picture, the different prototypes as well as structure strength. The orange prototype is floppy and will not last through strenuous use over time. Unless you want a squishy face cat egg, the new prototype on the left wins!!!

Risks and challenges
If Sunny Side Up Egg - Cat Edition is successfully funded, the funds will go towards manufacturing, production, and fulfillments. Although I do not see any immediate risks and challenges, there are always unforeseen issues. If the unforeseen issues do come up, I will be working with a professional post production team. I hope to run everything as streamline as possible to bring you your mold on time.
