Although it is a great privilege to be the caretakers of such a beautiful building, it is neither cheap nor easy. Our boiler is older than the city of Las Vegas - the replacement cost is tens of thousands of dollars. It gets freezing cold in Denver during the winter. Keeping the building warm is essential to our success and ability to stay open.

Also, our church was built before wounded warriors returning from world wars turned our eyes towards the challenges of having a disability - reminding us of our duty to give all our neighbors equal opportunity of mobility and access. Therefore, we are going to create wheelchair access by building ramps for the outside steps and between the lower and ground floors, and installing an elevator to lift up folks whose spirits may be soaring higher than their bodies - to the level of the chapel floor.

Our goal is to ensure that our church is a safe and warm place to gather and call home for all those who consume cannabis as an integral part of their spiritual journey.
However, even when we achieve the basic goals of heating and accessibility, we will still have much more to accomplish; including fixing all the broken windows and installing a commercial grade kitchen that would allow us to cater weddings and other church events.

The International Church of Cannabis is not just for Denver residents - it provides a beacon of hope, and a spiritual home, for our online congregation. It serves as a vanguard for future congregations as we expand to other cities around the world.

Elevation Ministries' use permit for the International Church of Cannabis legally establishes us in Denver, Colorado, USA as a religious organization. However, due to the volatile nature of American politics, we are always at risk of attack from opportunistic political forces. Therefore, it is extra important for us to have all our ducks in a row in terms of meeting building regulations, and abiding by all laws.
In this way, the International Church of Cannabis can become a beacon of hope for would-be Elevationists to point to as an example of religious freedom. Therefore, it is a good idea, after meeting our building needs, to put together a robust legal defense fund for the inevitable courtroom battles we will have defending the rights of us all. With your support, we will make this our next major goal.
