Our primary focus with the UbuTab is to provide a fresh and exciting take on mobile computing. We aim to bring desktop capacity storage to the tablet. Innovative advances in the hard drive market have provided us thin and power efficient hard drives that reach up to 1TB in capacity. At only 7mm thick, these drives are 25% slimmer than a traditional laptop hard drive. These slim new drives allowed us to engineer a tablet with massive storage without becoming clunky or thick.
In addition to the unique
and specialized hardware, the UbuTab will come loaded with the Ubuntu
OS. Although the Android OS will also be available, we are eager and
excited to support a new and exciting OS. Not long ago, an indiegogo
project was launched to fund an Ubuntu smartphone, it reached over
22,000 backers, raising millions of dollars! So we know there are plenty
of people out there ready to give something new a try when it comes to
mobile operating systems and traditional hardware decisions!
The Ubuntu OS
provides unique multi-tasking productivity, secure sharing, and a
beautiful interface. With Ubuntu you can accept calls in Skype while
working in a document, take notes on the side while surfing the web,

Hopefully the community can bring the UbuTab
project to life. My business partner and I had everything lined up to
begin production on this tablet when our financing fell through. We had
all the suppliers lined up and had already spent countless hours working
on the design. We don't want to see our hard work go to waste
and we truly believe there is a large enough market for this to be a
success.

Let me be clear when saying we are not just trying to make
another tablet to compete in the already crowded tablet market. We are
simply trying to raise enough money to do a one off production of these
great Ubuntu Media tablets. These will more than likely be the only
tablets of their kind for quite a while.

$40,000 Stretch Goal: If we hit $40k before funding closes, all models
will be upgraded with Qi technology. This would provide wireless
charging compatibility with many wireless charging systems. Qi is a
wireless charging standard already used by Asus, HTC, Huawei,
LG Electronics, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, BlackBerry, and Sony.
