Short Summary
Hello, my name is Vaughn George. I am an artist and performer.
I’ve been releasing music for almost 25 years under various aliases, of which "Vaughty" is the most recent, the most true to my heart and vision, and the most successful.
Vaughty’s first album, "Love and Industry”, was released in 2015 on my Aggro Monkey Records label. I went on to collaborate with singer Cherry Ballard on a collection of songs known as "The Ghost Of You". They are both available digitally and on CD, with additional exclusive tracks on the CD version of “The Ghost of You”.
Now it’s time for my most ambitious project to date: "Dark Society”. This 10-track album will feature songs which are not only deeply personal but also reflect my feelings about the world - a dark world - that we are living in. Themes of addiction, desperation and lost love appear alongside songs about war, anxiety, and the prophecies of George Orwell. The album is not all “1984” though, and also offers heart, sincerity and hope.
I can’t wait to share it with you in early 2022.
What We Need & What You Get
Let me introduce you to my awesome Dark Society team.
Andy Marlow is a brilliant and meticulous mix engineer and talented multi-instrumentalist with heart, soul and passion. His credits include Marc Almond, Tracey Ullman, Bryan Adams, and more. He will be contributing guitar parts, assisting with mixing and adding production elements to take the album to the next level.
Kevin Paul, formerly the chief mix engineer for Mute Records, will provide the mastering. His "golden ears" and years of experience - including his mixing the entire Depeche Mode catalogue for 5.1 surround - will ensure that this album sounds as awesome as it possibly can.
Alex Wharton from the famous Abbey Road Studios in London will do the vinyl cut. Yes, that's right, we are pressing vinyl due to popular demand!! When it comes to vinyl, the vinyl cut is as important as the mastering. With all the love and passion that is going into this project, I am insisting on the best and therefore it has to be Alex Wharton. Alex performed the vinyl cut for Gareth Jones's "Electrogenetic" vinyl and we all know how superb that sounds!
Szénási Ákos my art and visual director will be doing all the photography as well as the CD and vinyl layout and design.
The only thing missing from this team is you. Good art costs money, and I am setting a campaign goal for £6000 to help cover production and enable me to share this music with the world. Will you help?
No contribution will go unrecognised. I have put together packages at a wide variety of donor levels. Many of these are offers you can’t get anywhere else and include:
Digital versions of the "Dark Society” album in full res .Wav and .mp3 formats
*Original Test Pressings
*"Dark Society" album on vinyl (regular edition)
*"Dark Society" album on CD (deluxe edition)
*1-on-1 Zoom chats with me
*Exclusive packages where you can get all "Dark Society" and all previous albums on CD and vinyl (Dark Society vinyl only, previous albums will be available on CD)
The Impact
This album is not only my most ambitious project to date but achieving this goal will be a dream come true for me. In an industry where it is hard to make a living, my goal for this album is not only to connect with my fans but hopefully reach a new audience too. I believe that the songs on this album will have a positive impact on the people who hear them. Reactions to the singles I have already released have been wonderful, and people have told me how the songs resonate with them. In a dark world, this matters even more. I if I can walk away with my costs covered and you - the fans - receiving an album that is worthy of your hard earned money, that will make me a very happy man indeed! :-)
Having just successfully released and shipped out Gareth Jones's debut vinyl on my label, you can be assured that your investment is in good hands. Your orders will be fulfilled with professionalism, love and my eternal gratitude too!
Risks & Challenges
It's worth mentioning that vinyl pressing plants can take ages to fulfil orders. My vinyl pressing plant have assured me a delivery time of approx 20 weeks. This is significantly faster than the time it took to fulfil the Gareth Jones vinyl pressings but on the album release date, the vinyl will not be available immediately. The CDs will be available for immediate shipping. The good news is that all vinyls will include a digital copy including full resolution .Wav and high resolution.mp3. This will mean you will be able to download the digital version immediately so that you can enjoy listening to the album until the vinyl stock arrives.
For those of you who purchase CDs and vinyl as part of one of the package deals, you will receive an immediate download code for your digital version. The CDs and any other physical items will be shipped to you in a single package when the vinyl arrives. This way, you have your digital download to enjoy in the meantime, we all save on shipping costs, and I can devote more time to creating Youtube content that so many of you enjoy. I was reluctant to press vinyls but I have been talked into it by a lot of the fans and to be honest I would love to have this, my first vinyl pressing. I feel it will be worth the wait! :-)

Very important!!
The name that you enter into the Indiegogo system will be the name that will appear on the vinyl liner notes. Please ensure that the email address you use is one that is frequently monitored so that you never miss an update so that I can keep you updated with progress and particularly the vinyl pressing updates. It is important that you see these emails because I will inform you when the vinyls are ready to ship and get you to confirm your address in case you have moved or changed your postal address to ensure the the stock gets to you safely.
Other Ways You Can Help
Many different tiers have been set up to accommodate all budgets and I do understand that there are those of you who may not be in a position to financially back this project. You can help by spreading the word and sharing the news and the link to this Indiegogo campaign. Word of mouth is still the best form of promotion and you will have my eternal gratitude as always.
Thank you
VG:-)
