Our Story
'The Welder' is a period drama, set in 1980s - Singapore.
After conceiving her child, Ying sells the baby to settle her outstanding debts, accumulated from compulsive gambling. Eng Huat, her virtuous husband, a welder at the time, had no knowledge of this transaction. He confronts his wife - only to find out that $10,000 is the cost of buying his daughter back. He takes on labour-intensive jobs, pawns his most treasured possessions, and tests his morality in the process, to fulfil the amount needed. Through this, he manages to reconcile his relationship with his sisters - "welding" his families back together as one.
