This film is about 3 brothers (played by writer, director, actor Jae Rose and his real life siblings Ken and Stephen Rose), living three separate lives. They have grown apart, as families tend to do, until an incident happens that puts the middle and most explosive brother GABE (Ken Rose) in the hospital and forces these brothers to deal with each other after many years with whatever baggage they now carry. This is a realistic and honest portrayal of family dynamic, which typically comes in the form of awkwardness, punches, love and laughter.
I have the opportunity to do something very special. I have never seen anything like this done before to this extent. As a writer, you tend to write from your own experiences, whether they are based on truth or fully fabricated. And when your characters, whom may be based on actual people, tend to never be played by those people themselves in television or film (that's why there are Actors), this film is played by those actual people. This is a heavily scripted film that I've been working on for almost 4 yrs, and in this process, the thought occurred to me, "I'm not gonna have any money to make this film, let alone pay actors to play my family members,
why don't I have my actual family play...my actual f&%#ing family!!" Like Kramer from Seinfeld said, "who better to play me than ME." So I'm taking dear Cosmo Kramer's idea and making it come into fruition. How am I going to do this you ask??? Keep reading...

There has been some recent hoopla about, "LACK OF DIVERSITY IN FILM." And I have a very interesting take on this, me being Mixed, or what the Hollywood industry calls "ethnically ambiguous" when I go out on auditions. I can obviously relate. How do we change this?? Make films that are diverse. BOOM! Done. Now, this is what makes my film kind of cool. I coin it, A MODERN AMERICAN FILM, because you do not get any more diverse than my film. There will be Koreans (I will not be putting the hyphenated American version with these labels, just know we are all English speaking Americans with different tans), Mexicans, Blacks, Whites, Filipinos, and the majority of the cast mixed with 2 or 3 of these ethnic backgrounds. And I am not setting out to make a "MINORITY" based film or a "DIVERSE" film, these are just the people that are in my current life. Some family members, or Acting buddies I've known through the years. And I will not be shining any light to these differences because to me, it's no big deal, I see these people everyday, so in essence this is a direct reflection of the world we live in today. It just so happens not to be reflected on the Hollywood big screens as much.

(Behind the scenes for our Indiegogo spoof)
In my personal life, I've had the great pleasure of unseemingly affect the mind of a few children--my nieces and nephews (And yes, all 5 of my brother's kids are in my film). I've lived quite a different lifestyle from the rest of my family and friends, being into Art and Style, and obviously Acting. And never really thought anything of it, but just continue doing me. Up until my brother told me one day he asked one of his kids, "what do you wanna be when you grow up?" And one of his kids replied, "I wanna be an Actor like my Uncle when I grow up." This put a smile on my face and quite frankly, a tear to my eye. I immediately directed a fun music video (shown below) and put my nephew as the lead actor. On the drive home after filming, my nephew, Kristopher, looked up to his dad and said, "Dad, I'm gonna remember this the rest of my life."
With this anecdote in mind, this is by far MY BIGGEST REASON for making this film. I want to spark the minds of my nieces and nephews, and who knows, children out there alike, that they can do whatever they want. Just because you've never heard or seen anyone do it in the immediacy of your own family, doesn't necessarily mean you can't pursue it.

As alluded to earlier, how am I going to make a real life family act in a film??
Confidence. Confidence in my family. I believe we can do this! I believe I have a very talented family, but we were not born Baldwins to display our certain talents. I wouldn't say we are the smartest in terms of book smarts (Sadly, I might be the smartest in those terms, which means we are gonna need aloootta help, if I'm the brains in this outfit), but we all have a tremendous amount of social skills. From my brother's kids to my mom, we are all Hams, Charmers, and have loud mouths, quite frankly, we talk a lot of s#@% too. So we get it in terms of what it takes to
perform. And honestly,
ALOT RIDES ON ME, as the director. I have been Acting almost 10yrs now, and I direct with an Actor's eye. So whatever it takes to get the best performance is how I shoot. And that is why I will be filming on
multiple cameras (3), because dealing with amateur actors or non-actors, they do not have the ability to perform multiple takes with the same spontaniety for different camera angles. So, I will be getting coverage shots from the different cameras from different angles, so if the actors do something accidently genius, I will have coverage for that shot. Also, I'm going to go through a
1 MONTH REHEARSAL with my family to get them well equipped for filming. Trust me, I am not taking this process lightly at all.
